I've been saying this same thing for a while. I think the female sprinters of today simply aren't as good. Torrence was the most consistent US female sprinter of the 90's at 200. These girls today seem like they don't have that same ultra competitive fire.

If only Gwen wanted this race more that year. No offense to the three women who beat her, but Gwen had the speed in her to run much faster here....she ran a 10.82 in just days earlier. Here she ran a 22.25 jogging and almost qualified, but she didn't see Miller in that outside lane.

Would have loved to see what Torrence could have done at the games in the 200. She would have been ready by then.

@pmodel1 she would have won easily. Perec won in a mediocre time. Torrence would have destroyed her.

@lambielkwanfan Perec won in 22.12, faster than anybody in 2011, i can't explain (or better i can but i would like 2 hear some other opinion) why 2day's female sprinter are so week in the 200, for example Fraser Jeter and Hooker Stewart if compared with the respective 100 m performances, even VCB has dramatically regressed in the last period...
