Now , Tom sings like the Morbid Tales period , their best times with Emperor 's Return . a little disappointed with Into the Pandemonium .Do Anyone has news of D. Steiner since To Mega Therion ? Very good album but I missed Martin Ain on it .
Oh yes back in the mid 80s when I was in high school listening to Metallica, Venom, Metal Church,Celtic Frost,etc. To this day I still do rock out to Metal. Bang that head!
this time it seems to be for good...but never say die! This olde school metal sound shall echoe inside my olde skull many centuries from now, after thousands and thousands of listens while alive...no Conan, no Fire and Ice, no Cirith Ungol, just Keltic Froste!!!
ha ha haaa ,,thats funny (mccaslin7575) cuz i remember the same thing cruzin around before school with my friends ,gettin stoned out listening to celtic frost & all thras /death metal /slayer ,venom /overkill,/ possessed./ kreator./ flotsam&jetsam.. ./ patmat...true metalhead foreva,./;
Celtic Frost with "Morbid Tales" and "Emperor's return" mini LP along with Possessed "seven churches" are, according to me, the true foundation of death metal.
I still have my jacket when i was a teenager (24 years ago)with Emperor's return patch with others from Voïvod, Destruction.... :-)
One of the seminal doom metal bands. Does is share chords with "Am I evil?" Maybe.. but this is an entirely different animal. As inspirational now in 2009 as it was when I first hear it around 1990.
Absolutely! I thought so from the very first. I remember when To Mega Therion came out, it blew away my expectations (I was already into them thru Morbid Tales and the EP with Circle of the Tyrants on it)
I like the cowbell at the beginning. That really set them apart from other bands in the thrash community. Metallica and Megadeth had their funeral bells and shit on "For Whom the Bell Tolls" and "Staring Down The Cross" but never used cowbell ever. I find that funny. Same thing with Celtic Frost's counterparts Venom, Bathory, and most other deathlike black thrashers out there. Cowbells are the SHIT in any music. Period.
ive just started listening to celtic frost and so far i like everything i heard even the stuff from the infamous cold lake. but then again i like prtty much every thing from the 80s and hate pretty much everything from today. but it doesnt matter celtic frost is greatest black metal band along with venom if you consider them black metal.
You must be a fan if Pandemonuim was thier last good album, it was horrible along with Cold Lake ,Monotheist was like going back 23 years its awesome. First two Albums Morbid Tales and To Mega Therion are their absolute best and all time best Death Metal albums....
1gregmichael ..fk that, what about extreme noise terror at the awards hahah fkn fags.. these guys were sick but not alone, remember deviated instinct, amebix etal now these were FOR REAL
Took over where the original Black Sabbath lineup left off. All due respect to Dio. This album holds the same integrity as early Sabbath. In my ears at least.
One guy made a statement that was 100% true. This was before there was even a distiction between death metal and black metal. This is some of the heaviest, darkest shit of all time.EPIC ALBUM...
Make her cheeks bounce to the undulating woofers of doom, and recieve divine impetus.

I know its a little annoying I point this out but the first riff is identical to the first riff (after intro) on "Am I Evil", still badass song
mrzarniwoop3 2 years ago
It's quite similar but not identical. Two notes are different, as is the timing of them.

Monotheist, is a good album. A fine combo of the best of Hellhammer and Frost. Favorite track is the album's closer. A work of tragic beauty.
