The song is an obvious take on Metallica's "Enter Sandman" which is a GREAT creepy song and video. It also references the H.P. Lovecraft themes of reality Beyond the Wall of Sleep which Metallica had previously covered with Cliff Burton.

I love this track. I love this movie. One of Carpenter's best. Its hard not to find Carpenter's films entertaining and ground breaking in terms of his vast ability for making different kinds of horror films.
