@AsterLc meteor didn't do shit dumb ass. it did absolutely nothing. kefka poisoned a countries water supply, burned down a castle, sucked up all magic from the world, captured all of the magicite, brought on the apocalypse, basically destroying the world, killed Ghestal, killed general leo, and took control of the gods; ultimately becoming one. the disease happening in ff7 was only happening to cloud and a select few in midgar from the movie. plus sephiroth makes jenova do shit for him.

Okay, Sephiroth's mom, Lucrecia Crescent, married a man named Hojo, and she became pregnant with their son. Hojo wanted to experiment of Sephiroth by injecting cell samples from Jenova, onto a pregnant Lucrecia, who agreed to the experiment. When Lucrecia gave birth, Sephiroth was taken from her.
I don't like him. If you ever look up clips of him, you'll see (and hear he's sicko laugh) how evil he is. Hard to believe that Lucrecia chose Hojo over Vincent. :)

@kelroy2121 You are misconstruing the circumstances. Cane and Abel were BORN brothers, then Cane got jealous of him and killed him. Sephiroth and Cloud are NOT of one blood or parents. Even on the level of Jenova cells, Seph is different - he got J cells as a fetus, kind of like Genesis and Angeal. (those were his brothers and equals, or as close as it gets for him).
Sephiroth did not help Cloud in anything and did not care about Cloud's development. He called the Reunion, which Cloud followed.

When on a mission to Nibelhiem, Sephiroth finds out about Jenova and loses his mind. He then burns down Nibelhiem and Cloud seeks out revenge from Sephiroth killing his mother. After a battle, Cloud faints from bloodloss and Hojo then experiments on him and Zack. That's how he got Jenova cells and S cells. I've played all the games. I know.

Canon has NOTHING mentioning Cloud's J cells before the NIbel experiment 17 years into his life and Cloud NEVER fought the REAL Seph until the very last battle, which Seph fought to death.

Plus, I already said. Sephiroth required Cloud to get him the BM. After Cloud did it, he was no longer of any use to Sephiroth. And if producers were smart, Sephiroth would kill him in the final battle in NC instead of being defeated.

And which side a character is on. And if a character had ability, power, and intelligence, he should have won, and not lost only cause he is evil. What does it have to do with anything? Or the producers should have bothered with creating a better protagonist.

@kelroy2121 Sigh. The SOLE purpose for creating Seph clones was to prove the reunion theory, not to CLONE SEPH AS A FIGHTER. Cloud was a successful Seph clone, like every other specimen. The ONLY difference is that Cloud had Zack to help him out of the lab before the experiment was completed.
Cloud LOST his personality. He regained a portion of it through J cells mimicking ability and another - helped by Tifa in LS. Cloud did not withstand any mako poisoning. (which even Zack could and did).

This is where the confusion comes from, that Seph clones were Seph replicas. But they were not. Just as Genesis' clones/copies were NOT replicas of Genesis. Clone is a very wrong word to use here. This is why I said - Cloud is NOT a Seph clone.

@kelroy2121 A clone by definition is an exact replica. Genesis' copies, for example, lacked personality and abilities compared to an original. They simply were produced from his genetic material (which retains Jenova mimicking abilities). Sephiroth could not be even copied, CC states it.
So the word clone is simply a wrong term to use. Because neither Genesis' nor Seph's 'copies' were the exact replicas of the original.

Cloud never bothered learning a thing before Seph called his reunion and dragged Cloud all over the world. So in a way everything Cloud became (however little, it was still a progress) is partially Seph's merit. One of many.
@xenonzx I say the same. :) Zack or Genesis would make a plausible rival. If it was put in a way that Zack was fused with more power (seeing that Sephiroth raped him in Nibelheim), I can see a chance for... at least some logical equality. Cloud doesn't even possess clarity of mind or confidence to make him a good fighter and leader, while Sephiroth's mind, aside from Nibelheim, was crystal clear. He did possess some 'skewed' beliefs, but I don't care. I think he had his own right for those.

And an answer to yours: don't remember a one move end. In FF he fought Seph in his 3 incarnations: 2 angelic and then one in the LS. In ACC he gets his ass kicked majorly before the bad guy has to ultimately lose because... they are bad guys. In reality though, it's not quite the same.

@AsterLc actually kefka succeeded in bringing upon the apocalypse. so he did succeed. that was his primary goal. and yes he was a god. he had followers worshiping him. hell even ex-death sucked up half of the merged world with his vortexes. and kuja destroyed terra with 1 ultima spell. although he didn't truly achieve what he wanted. but kefka literally turned a world of balance to a world of ruin. all sephiroth did was kill a flower girl. and no one even cared about the flower girl.

@AsterLc meteor didn't do shit dumb ass. it did absolutely nothing. kefka poisoned a countries water supply, burned down a castle, sucked up all magic from the world, captured all of the magicite, brought on the apocalypse, basically destroying the world, killed Ghestal, killed general leo, and took control of the gods; ultimately becoming one. the disease happening in ff7 was only happening to cloud and a select few in midgar from the movie. plus sephiroth makes jenova do shit for him.

Okay, Sephiroth's mom, Lucrecia Crescent, married a man named Hojo, and she became pregnant with their son. Hojo wanted to experiment of Sephiroth by injecting cell samples from Jenova, onto a pregnant Lucrecia, who agreed to the experiment. When Lucrecia gave birth, Sephiroth was taken from her.

- he trained all his life
- he won a Wutai war
- he researched the LS for knowledge and wisdom of the Ancients.

@kelroy2121 Now, Cloud could be more talented that Seph, but aside from never making it to SOLDIER and being a mere mercenary at the age Seph was winning the Wutai war I yet have to see a sign of his talent.
Moreover, power is ONLY 1/2 of success. Another is intelligence and experience. (Read Clausewitz or Machiavelli on battle strategy). In this department Cloud isn't even close to Seph. So... um. Cloud's set up looks pretty pathetic to me.

I went to the library and read books. ON war strategy. On history. No one prevents you from reading books. Cloud expresses no desire to seek knowledge, and this is his main problem. But it has nothing to do with money or resources.
And, besides, I don't care what would happen to Cloud if he had similar life as Seph.

@kelroy2121 You are misconstruing the circumstances. Cane and Abel were BORN brothers, then Cane got jealous of him and killed him. Sephiroth and Cloud are NOT of one blood or parents. Even on the level of Jenova cells, Seph is different - he got J cells as a fetus, kind of like Genesis and Angeal. (those were his brothers and equals, or as close as it gets for him).
Sephiroth did not help Cloud in anything and did not care about Cloud's development. He called the Reunion, which Cloud followed.

When on a mission to Nibelhiem, Sephiroth finds out about Jenova and loses his mind. He then burns down Nibelhiem and Cloud seeks out revenge from Sephiroth killing his mother. After a battle, Cloud faints from bloodloss and Hojo then experiments on him and Zack. That's how he got Jenova cells and S cells. I've played all the games. I know.

@kelroy2121 ??????? When does Cloud faces Sephiroth aside from the final battle in NC. Every time you meet him in the game, it's actually a piece of Jenova, used as Seph's avatar, and I am not saying that Cloud is less powerful than a piece of Jenova's body.
Plus, I already said. Sephiroth required Cloud to get him the BM. After Cloud did it, he was no longer of any use to Sephiroth. And if producers were smart, Sephiroth would kill him in the final battle in NC instead of being defeated.

For example - what would change if he were a promising SOLDIER Third by the time Nibelheim happened? Plot-wise - nothing. But it would clearly show: Cloud had talent.
Also as an amateur MMA fighter, I can tell you that there is an endless gap between those, who train from childhood, and those, who join later.

debatable. we have no information on how to compare 'raw' Cloud and Seph. And besides the problem with Seph is that by the FF7 time he was no longer human, but surpassed human abilities by a huge margin. FF7 Seph cannot be compared to even CC Seph.
But there exists a possibility that if Cloud was smarter, he's join Seph. For he would be simply too disappointed with the world.

Ultimania Omega guide, citing the producers here: The experiment's procedure -- which involved injecting Jenova cells into the subjects and exposing them to mako -- doesn't differ from the manufacturing procedure for SOLDIERs. The largest difference is that SOLDIERs are selected from a prime field, being strong of mind and
body and able to withstand the experiment uninfluenced, whereas the Clones' fragile minds leave them as "portions" of Jenova.

Seph clones were not supposed to be great fighters. They were supposed to be weak and answer Jenova reunion call. That was the sole purpose of their creation.
Clone is also a wrong term here to use.

@xenonzx cloud and sephiroth are both clones created by hojo cloud was pretty much thrown out and was able to grow up as a normal child.but on the other hand sephiroth probly grew up in a war type environment and was already being prepared for soldier training and since he didnt join soldier cloud was not purposely infused with any mako or jenova cells(that he wasnt already born with)and they both fucked up(lost their minds).

@kelroy2121 *cloud and sephiroth are both clones created by hojo * ????? Cloud is meant to be Sephiroth's clone. Sephiroth is no one's clone. Sephiroth was 'created' as an experiment to empower people with the abilities of Ancients as they thought Jenova was an Ancient.
Cloud lost his personality because he could not withstand Jenova influence. Sephiroth became evil, because he lost faith in the world. These are absolutely 2 different types of 'mind loss' if you wish to call it so.

@xenonzx Well, he was experimented by Hojo to make a Sephiroth's clone. He was thought to be a failure, but in the end he was the only one clone, who truly proved himself useful.
So he isn't totally a Seph clone. I wouldn't call him that either.
Well, I write stories for FF7, so I am supposed to know a lot. XD But, um, I am very disappointed with many things, including Cloud. I mean, sure, it's just a game... but I hate stupid protagonists to the core.

@xenonzx I really am disappointed that it's very popular to overlook that, despite being evil, Sephiroth was brilliant. And that it really doesn't count at all. All it matters is morality. And which side a character is on. And if a character had ability, power, and intelligence, he should have won, and not lost only cause he is evil. What does it have to do with anything? Or the producers should have bothered with creating a better protagonist.

@VMarron In all honestly i dont find sephiroth to be evil at all. Sure... he kills people and you dont play as him and he is the boss in crisis core and the psx FF7, But he kinda has the right to do what he does. He was lied to and pretty much lived thinking his mom was dead. Didn't live a normal life and didn't find out for a long time. If i was him i would probably do the same =.= those bastards

@xenonzx I personally don't find him neither evil, nor insane. XD But that's cause I never take anything face value. Like NIbelheim. Sure he is angry, but he has every right to be. First he finds out he was lied to and betrayed by a company he worked for. Then he finds out that his mom was supposed to be of an Ancient race, which was treated - with all honesty - like crap by humanity. Putting Jenova half-alive in a tube and taking her cells is - if she truly were an Ancient - torturing her.

If Aerith didn't care about it and was all forgiving saint, what would you expect from a person, who was taught to kill from early age? Even in CC his morality is quite thin if you look closer and not just at the fact that he smiles. XD
There is even more and I love this irony the most. XD It was basically Sephiroth, who destroyed Shin-Ra with WEAPONs and Meteorfall. Not Cloud at all.

@kelroy2121 Sigh. The SOLE purpose for creating Seph clones was to prove the reunion theory, not to CLONE SEPH AS A FIGHTER. Cloud was a successful Seph clone, like every other specimen. The ONLY difference is that Cloud had Zack to help him out of the lab before the experiment was completed.
Cloud LOST his personality. He regained a portion of it through J cells mimicking ability and another - helped by Tifa in LS. Cloud did not withstand any mako poisoning. (which even Zack could and did).

@kelroy2121 A clone is a replica. Seph was neither a replica of Jenova, nor of Hojo.
This is where the confusion comes from, that Seph clones were Seph replicas. But they were not. Just as Genesis' clones/copies were NOT replicas of Genesis. Clone is a very wrong word to use here. This is why I said - Cloud is NOT a Seph clone.

@kelroy2121 A clone by definition is an exact replica. Genesis' copies, for example, lacked personality and abilities compared to an original. They simply were produced from his genetic material (which retains Jenova mimicking abilities). Sephiroth could not be even copied, CC states it.
So the word clone is simply a wrong term to use. Because neither Genesis' nor Seph's 'copies' were the exact replicas of the original.

@kelroy2121 Again - no. Seph was able to do so because he learned this ability travelling the LS.
Cloud never bothered learning a thing before Seph called his reunion and dragged Cloud all over the world. So in a way everything Cloud became (however little, it was still a progress) is partially Seph's merit. One of many.

@xenonzx I say the same. :) Zack or Genesis would make a plausible rival. If it was put in a way that Zack was fused with more power (seeing that Sephiroth raped him in Nibelheim), I can see a chance for... at least some logical equality. Cloud doesn't even possess clarity of mind or confidence to make him a good fighter and leader, while Sephiroth's mind, aside from Nibelheim, was crystal clear. He did possess some 'skewed' beliefs, but I don't care. I think he had his own right for those.

XD I understand that the point in all this - good always wins and all that. But it's a fairy tail. And I like Seph's character, which doesn't fit into fairy tails.

the reason the game final fantasyh seven's story hit home was because in the end, the perfection was beaten by the failure.
sephiroth is more powerful in the begining, because he was givin all of his powers at birth.
everything was easy for him, so he never got any stronger.
but everything was hard for cloud.
nothing went his way, and sephiroth caused most of his pain and suffering.
sure, sephiroth could have ended everything early, but cloud was not a threat until it

@Pein718 -> He never sought them on his own but because he accidentally ran into certain characters like Ilfana. It's actually Cloud who does not want to improve anything about himself, being fine as he is in Zack's personality.
WHEN did Cloud train himself? That year as the game progresses? Nice. One year of fighting is logically better than a lifetime, a won war, and later improvements in the LS.
I can go on an on. I'll spare you by saying that even producers admit - Cloud is much weaker.

@Pein718 Oh, and I know how appealing the notion of 'failure beating perfection' is. *squirms* It gives people excuses not to improve anything in themselves and still feel as 'heroes'. People who LOVE Cloud normally don't even know anything about real life 'heroes' or 'villains' and how they came to be and how they won or lost.
Cloud never came to Sephiroth's level, not even close. And *sephiroth caused most of his pain and suffering.* Poor Cloud. He'd rather be a bartender and God bless him.

A no less quick question: why in FF series and many other games the bad guy always loses?
And an answer to yours: don't remember a one move end. In FF he fought Seph in his 3 incarnations: 2 angelic and then one in the LS. In ACC he gets his ass kicked majorly before the bad guy has to ultimately lose because... they are bad guys. In reality though, it's not quite the same.
