@cj222100 That's what I've always thought too, she has the lines of a rhythmic gymnast. If I'm not mistaken, her mother is a former rhythmic gymnast and her father a regular olympic gymnast, she also uses most of her mother's former routines on her floor exercises. She got her figure from her mother. I believe she is 5ft4in tall.

@kittencat22 Yeah I think I remember hearing that too about her mom. Did her mom ever medal at the olympics? I'm pretty sure her dad did, and I think he might even have a high bar move named after him. 5'4's pretty tall for a gymnast-I think Svetlana Khorkina was 5'4" too.

I always worried that i wouldnt be a good gymnast because i am quite tall and skinny, and they say that it is good for and gymnast to have short arms and legs, as it makes tumbling easier, but Nastia Liukin shows that you can be any shape to be an exellent gymnast!! Go Nastia!!

SHes really good but i like shawn more.. because she points her toes and that but its seems sloppy.. and sometimes she bends her feeet but shes really good and she has many gold medlas to porve it.. Yes this wasnt her best routine and she can do bettter.. Good Job Nastia Keeep up the good work.. because nobodys perfect, sometimes you fail sometimes you succeed !! :)

I love Nastia.. is one of those gymnastics so fluid, agile, graceful, elegant, elastic, she has class, she's perfection. She has technique .. but that's not everything, she has personality and is as light as a feather and she's fine doig pirouettes.. all in her is amazing.

She's tall, not over weigth, proportional, and it makes her movements more elegants and nice to be seen. I hope to see her in next Olimpic Gammes, wish her win too.

BUt see her is in my opinion a unique oportunity!!

@Gr33nkiwi kinda like bogi having extreme cowboyed legs during her double tucks, or constantly landing with one foot infront of the other to ensure she sticks her landings, or lilia also having cowboyed double fronts on floor, or khorkina having slight bent legs when she did her giants before her dismount. cuz you know, all these are enough to discredit everything else great that these gymnasts did right? kinda like how shawn never completes a full split leap? such terrible technique

@garyj79 they were, especially if you watched the world championships where she was only completing a double front minus the half twist. she probably cowboyed a lot in atlanta also but the only angle they every showed was from the side but it was still beautiful

I don't care what anybody says, but Nastia Liukin is not a Ballerina. She has some qualities of a Ballerina, yes, but the last real ballerina in Gymnastics was Irina Baraksanova, and when she and Mostepanova was pulled from the AA, the Balletic part of gymnastics really died. Lilia brought it back a bit. I'm not saying that there haven't been great dancers since Baraksanova. There has been Omelianchik, Silivas, Dobre, Pavlova (the closest in the past decade) and Nastia is okay. But no ballet.
