  • That old girl was built for speed, and she did plenty of it on this trip. Gave us a serious run for our money between the interstate exits! I would later clock her doing 75mph through Missouri less than a year later. That's FAST!

  • Great shot with the mountains in the background. Perfect for a magazine cover!

  • women inthe conductors side wth?!?! LOLOLOL

  • @fishworldhacker That's so someone could be nagged the whole trip!

  • Aaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy!!! Love it!!! Especially that last shot! What a angle and the sound!!!! Wohooooooo!!!! Talk about brave. I shot it to when it was here in El Paso in November leaving west bound, wasn't that close....lol....hope to post it soon. That must have been fun to chase it so long, am jealous!! Thank you! :-)

  • Incredible. You guys built some magnificent engines and a fantastic video too!

  • You STOOD NEAR THE TRACKS FOR A TRAIN THAT GOES 70 MILES AN HOUR? You're a hero.

  • Good works, thenk you ))))

  • there looks to be a spider in your defrost vent.

  • Wow really excellent video thanks for posting!I had the opportunity to see and hear this beautiful machine up close this past month when it stopped in El Paso and I was blown away by the shear size and craftsmanship on this beast.Thank Union Pacific for preserving and showing us a piece of history that I had only read about.I wish more companies did this.

  • How often is required maint needed ? Seems like lots of moving parts. Awesome video !

  • Great video!!!

  • Look at her go! This is American History live! 844 was delivered to Union Pacific in 1944!

  • Why does it appear that it's cylinder cocks are open?

  • @M1911A1 What they told me is that's coming from the exhaust steam injector. In some pictures you can see it's actually coming out of a pipe right in front of the cylinder cock.

  • What a fantastic video....Not just the best video of 844 but probably of any steam loco in the preservation era. I loved the snapshots taken in between. Truly great and inspiring! Thank u Sir.

  • @paullubliner Nope, couldn't pick our shot this time. Train was doing about 80 and we had a kid with us, so we couldn't do any crazy driving. We got what we got and we love it. GREAT memories. You must really not have a sense of humor if you can't even pick up that ...EVER implies sarcasm. And sending me harassing personal messages makes you look foolish. Let's just share them, shall we?

  • Why do guys so often have to title their little video the "BEST EVER... whatever." You didn't shoot this on 1080P HD so right there you "lose" (you're the one seeking some title or other.) Not to mention the lighting is often very much against you.

  • @paullubliner I agree! I have had this many times as well.

  • And also the fact that you got video of her was awesome.

  • Right at 13:36 BAM!

  • What a GREAT video. The war cries right at the end summarize it well. *****

  • NICE WORK!!!

  • I think with a little editting, this could be a really good video.

  • 1st 5 min. a mishmash; real good pacing begins @ around 5:00 min. At around 7:00, image freezes, screen goes black, then recovers; this occurs 3 times. Several instances of blank, white screen; zoom focus off, both in and out so vid s/b edited. After 5:00 min mark, pacing good.

  • That was awesome. I am going to be chasing her next week when she comes here to St Louis. I have chased her Memorial weekend 06 from Claremore OK to KC Union station before. What kind of recorder did you use,it has excellent clarity.

  • @steamjunkie Just my trusty Canon S5 I've had for a few years now. I hear good things about some other camera brands and it's the only camera I've ever had, but I think I'm gonna stick with Canon for life. Love it.

  • awesome pacing! i would've chased her all day if i didn't have work at 2 and had to drive back to Portland :( great job!

  • Fabulous locomotive.... off the scale.....

  • Thanks for the ride! : ) that was a blazing fun

  • Great job!

  • Nice title at the bigning, and nice shot from The Dalles. I will agree though, those are some pretty nice pacing shots!
