why is Nitrogen hybridized? arent the3 half-filled p orbitals enough to accommodate the 3 bonds it makes with Carbons?

@AsakuraAvan Mainly because it is easier to explain the geometry of the molecule if you sp3 hybridise the system. However, you do not need to employ hybridisation and you can treat ammonia with molecular orbital theory. The benefit of MO theory is that it explains why the 3 stretching vibrations exhibit 2 vibrational bands.
