It's a combination of things, I think. This has been going on for so many generations that people are desensitized to it, children are not valued except for how they can best serve adults, and these countries have so many social problems that when seen from their point of view, this is a very small issue. I doubt we'll see the end to this atrocity in our lifetimes, if ever. Makes me utterly sick, quite frankly.
