The older millworker, played by Eileen Brennen, says, "The tanks run 24 hours a day. I work 8 straight hours with two 10 minute breaks and one 20 minute break for lunch. I find it difficult to eat my lunch in that length of time. 40 seconds. (Snap!)
help help pleaze , not being a native english speaker , I'd like to know what the older millworker says at the beginningof this clip ..pleaze help me , couldn't catch these words .thanx in advance for your reply
translation in her exact words. : "the tanks run 24 hours a day.i work eight strait hours with two ten minute breaks and one twenty minute break for lunch. i find it difficult for me to eat my lunch in that length of time....forty seconds."
The song was written for the musical "Working" by Studs Terkel. Studs Terkel interviewed real people about their lives as they pertained to their jobs and their lives. Maybe the song is a downer, but I don't think that the millworker who Mr. Terkel interviewed liked her situation very much. The song is, of course, a reflection of that.
A haunting song from a great show- Jennifer's version certainly ranks as fabulous as Robin Lamont's from the original Broadway company. It's a shame a soundtrack wasn't issued from this cable TV production- Barry Bostwick, Patti LaBelle, Lynn Thigpen, Rita Moreno... all fabulous. At least we have it now on DVD- thanks for posting this!
Jennifer Warnes has an amazing voice, I have one of her records from the 80's. "love Hurts" sung by her is something else. I'll have to get it out and put it here. Jim Capaldi has had many people and groups singing it but Jennifer's version is probably the best.
I love Jennifer Warnes - it's such a pity she didn't get the exposure she deserved. What a treat to find this here. I saw she sang Time of my Life in Dirty Dancing and searched to find other songs. Thanks for posting. She's great but I still think Eva Cassidy is the best female vocalist ever!
Waiting for a daydream to take me through the morning...oh man, that's my day, every day.
