This is funny. I'm a teacher, and when a scantron doesn't have the block to scan, it just gives a misread error (don't forget there is a key that this gets marked against) and spits the scantron back out... and then I know you've tried to cheat.

i did this and it threw off the whole scan tron..thankfully the teacher graded it on her own.

i did this altering number 30 of 100 questions total. the machine graded number 31 as it would have graded 30 and it threw off the whole grading making me get 52 points lower. but teacher fixed it, and luckily didn't realize i tampered with the scantron. ended up making a b+

I don't really know for sure, but I think it means you use the #2 pencil and then mark really hard on the black lines then I guess with the lead being on the black marks, the machine that does the scoring will mark it correct. His theory could work...

Though i found, using your saliva, to dampen the paper, than errasing /scraping will work best, since the saliva softens the paper and eraser can easily nag at it. It works aswell will not put a hole in the scantron.
