Im tellin u , beats nowadays only last for a hot second inside a true soul. Beats like this right here tho light u up every single time you hear it. Many present beatmakers need to inject their God givin skills inside their music. It makes a difference .....
Wow, damn, ...this is the sh#$%. It's when house entered my life. Red Zone-NYC-Dave Morales, Sound Factory - West 27th st . When I heard the music and saw the battles in the circle, I was hooked.
This track should _NOT_ be played on a CD player but on a Technics turntable. Not only does new music suck these days but so does the methods for playing it back. This track owns! I have two copies on VINYL.
@STARTREKFANIMATED You need to hear it on a good sound system to really hear and feel the low end of the kick. If you haven't heard it in the club, then you haven't heard it. This track came out in 1990, way ahead of its time with the syncopated kicks on 4&5/8&1, plus the diminished horn chord falling between 4&5 with reverb turned way up. Listen to recent house tracks, soulful, deep, tech- whatever, and these motifs are coming back. It's a track made for dancing, not for armchair navel gazing.
@scientrophic I've heard this at the Sound Factory in NYC and many of the 80s clubs and you aren't lying. Most of this music was written and engineered with those places in mind. its like watching Star Wars on your iPhone. It just doesn't work that way. You have to see it at the drive-in theatre or another giant screen.. Its the way they were intended to be experienced.
amussing this, reminds me of kiss fm but also the intro like debbie malones rescue me another slighty commerical house track that i still won't knock.
I was just a little shorty (6 years old) when this came out but I still remember this song sooooo vividly. A True Classic and all I can say is Thanks for posting this on YouTube.
to quote roland clark, "chillin in the corner at the shelter all by myself..." damn, when this song came on at 7 in the morning the floor just blew up! god bless nyc house and 39th street!
this is when B MORE was truly representing. When things were fun and it was about the best marching bands, club songs, clubs and who could dance the best.NOT ABOUT ALL OF THE CRAZYNESS THAT'S GOING ON IN B MORE NOW.The good old days

You guys are taking me back with MARS... wow, how many times did I leave there at 4 in the morning to make it to school... had how many pairs of platform shoes. One thing though... the hottest club of them all RED ZONE with that hot ass light in the front. I had my first drink there dancing on stage to Humpty, a sex on the beach... those were the days 1988/1989/1999.... BRING IT BACK!!!
I loved MARS, especially hanging out on the roof and looking over the Hudson river. My other clubs were (in no particular order) : Red zone Save the robots Struts Kilimanjaro Home Base The World RoseLand Sound Factory (and SF BAR) Smores Nells. :D
a list of a true house head....I been to all of those too....Mind blowing...Red Zone was Special..The Tunnel and The Underground was literaly a underground house heaven.....I was Personally Addicted to Roselands.....NYC!!!
Ooh-Rah to you young man. There's nothing else quite like House. When I find other music I haven't heard in years it doesn't strike my heart the way House does. There's something very unique about it. It's a shame you can't see and dance to it the way we did when this song and all the classics first came out. The dancing style, known as Housin', was the other side of the coin to the music. Maybe some people in NYC still do it but everything is so dull with rap or corn, gay techno. Rock on.
yea i feel you. im yoing,21. but i'm raised on house music, love it with heart! i hang out with alot of old school people who teach me alot about house music. So im very appriciative& besides house music is legendary it'll never die out
Unfortunately those days (the clubbing days) are long , long gone. I've been out of the loop as it were for years regarding the NYC "scene".
I wish there was a place to dance (as badly as I do..I dance like I'm having a full body seizure;0) , where it's not about how you look, it's about the vibe.
Come on down to the Coney Is. boardwalk this late spring/summer, see how we throw down. From there you can get right 'back in the loop', start getting flyers and see where the happenings are. Summer is loaded with outdoor parties. Water Taxi Beach L.I. City, South St. Seaport, PS 1, Central Park on Sundays, Soul Summit @ Ft, Greene Pk, Brooklyn, and on and on. Never too late. I stopped hanging out for years until '08. It was like I never left. Most of the big clubs are gone though, high rents.
Water Taxi summer nights party, the Body & Soul PS2 parties, Cielo on little west 18th st (maybe 12th?) theres still a bunch of good parties and good vibes out there. Cielo is probably your best bet and most consistent.
@nevets68 : Word my brother, it seems more about being 'cool' these days than appreciating the music itself. Face it, the genre attracts a lot of wanna-be's. But there is hope... often the more small, cosy underground parties attract people that really do come for the music. DJ'ing myself I'm enjoying myself more with three people dancing their ass off on the dancefloor than a crowd of 'cool' people who aren't interested in the music but trying to be more cool than the guy/girl next to them.
That's because Madonna used to hang in the clubs, and biter that she is (love how she bites). She lifted samples from Love Break for Vogue...........and there is no mistake in saying that this track inspired Fever
Go into any rich neighborhood where morals are clean play this song the original that breaks down into the sax for a half hour in any american town not high and dont steal with any moral looking life vs any hard core moral looking life compare police reaction without head jamming and test your spirit in front of your own eyes.
