The teacher could have called security, the principal or another teacher nearby if he couldn't control his class to remove the main troublemakers and then continued with the lesson, but instead, he FLIPPED OUT(which made the situation worse), and therefore lost his job.....smh.

I am an 8th grade math teacher and I can guarantee you that this guy is every teacher's hero. I see a lot of people on here leaving comments blaming the students for acting up but I think the real problem is poor parenting skills. Some parents allow their children to speak to them in a disrespectful tone and as a result kids think that they can talk to teachers the same way. It's sad.

Have a look at the McGavock website, and you'll see that the administration admit to the video having been watched over a million times in its various forms.

So perhaps Donald Wood will get the justice he deserves, instead of being hung out to dry as would normally have happened had this video not appeared on YouTube.

You might want to know, he wasn't fired. He's currently on administrative leave with pay while doctors at the Vanderbilt Medical Center review his condition. No charges are pending the teacher, though the local DA has stated he is looking into possible charges against the students as there is some suggestion that their actions were reckless and instigated the meltdown. (Which under TN law, is illegal.)

Wow, this teacher totally crossed the line. That said, some students should consider dropping out and entering the workforce. Let's face it. College is not for everyone and, at present, they are only distracting the teacher and some students from taking full advantage of the schoolday. Yes, it is okay to have fun in high scool, but have that fun between classes, after/before school, at home, on the weekends, etc. School is not for everyone (including these students and maybe this teacher).

I'm not saying it was entirely appropriate for the teacher to behave that way but something tells me it was building up for awhile and you can't exactly control it if you have a nervous breakdown.
