Great vid! Stuff those expiry dates! I'll use my old tyres till their bald! The Fiesta had its original 13 year old spare tyre on for a couple of days and we even went for a long ride with it on! OK it was a little cracked and what not but it held air! I got an original 16 year old spare tyre for my Peugeot 405 and had IT on for 3 days and it was cracked and stuff but HELD AIR! I'm cheap and nothins gonna change that!
@IDIDieselJohn That's because the rubber and elements on the inside are drying out with age, making the tire very dangerous. Evidence shows that accidents have occured when the tread peels out of the tire causing a catastrophic situation, putting the driver and bystanders in danger. I would never drive on tires that are 10+ years old because of this risk, and 20/20 has covered it. That's my opinion.
my grandpa was working outside one day and he heard a BANG so he looked and the SPARE tires on his 1979 ford motorhome had just blown up! never been used just sitting in the sun made it go BANG so that goes to show you tires do not like sun and not being used very much :P
the tires on the back of my ford model aa are vietnam era military surplus nondirectionals. the date code says around 1971. they arnt too bad, idk what the fronts are. they are probalby from the 1960s because of the brand and style
Thank You this helps us alot.
