everybody shut up and just try and enjoy the video,I love anything running on nitro! This is a recreation built so they can run the thing on the track, otherwise it's just another cacklefest museum piece.
There were a few fuel cars that ran Ford / Chevy motors over the years, without much success. Recall Jim Bucher of Ohio running Chev motor in TF back in early 70's. I believe in 60's, Mickey Thompson ran the old Ford 427 OHC in early F/C.
I remember seeing his Funny Car back then. Isn't it interesting that back then, whether it was a Chevy funny car or Ford funny car, when they lifted the body up, there was a CHRYSLER HEMI sitting there. Chevy and Ford engines couldn't complete with the HEMI
Nope, by 1960, if it had nitro, it had a hemi. There just isn't anything else that will take the abuse. You figure the typical big block chevy weighed around 520lbs, well the hemi weighed 750lbs, DRY. They had enough material in the main saddles and cam shaft webbing they didn't split down the middle like everything else does when you put nitro to it.
@Polybun There were plenty of nitro chevys after 1960. Jungle started his own cars in 1968. He ran chevy power for years. Bruce Larson ran plenty of Chevy motors. Numerous top fuel cars too.
I know what you mean. I had a Hemi in my 74 Vette! Most people didnt believe it when they saw the HEMI ensignia that I put on the hood scoop. The torque was so insane that I had to modify the rear just to keep in the car. Those were the days!

Jungle Jim would be proud! I first saw him run at Oxford Plains, Maine in 76. I'll never forget that!

At one time, can't recall (maybe early 70's), there was company making hemi heads for big block Chev motors for Fuel Class use.
