Its sad really..... the loss of Victor Borge and others of his ilk - they were acomplished musicians who allowed themselves to joke about music, who appeared to play badly but playing as if you are playing badly, takes great skill and musicianship. We just dont have people like that around right now..... such a shame. VB was a star :) Comedy these days seems to be measured by how many swear words you can get into your act - it was different for these guys, they were fabulous entertainers.
About 25 years ago, Mr Borge' came to a little town in Bloomfield Ct where i live. They would have weekly concerts throughout the summer, and would normally draw a crowd estimated at 40,000. When Victor Borge' came, the overflow-crowd was estimated by local police to be around 70,000. I don't think there is anyone else in this world that could ever compare to all his talents. When he plays seriously, i can get a tear. When he uses his humor, i just can't stop laughing.
Excuse me.......... No, C Minor has 3. If you find the relative major (Eb), and find the number of flats in that, you will find the number in C minor. The order of flats is BEADGCF, and coincidentally, the order of "flat" scales as well. B(flat) with 2 flats, E, with 3 Flats. Use the same accidentals on c, you get the natural minor, Now sharpen the 7th (Bb) and you get harmonic minor, the conventional minor.
But the KEY SIGNATURE HAS 3 FLATS. Have you ever done any music theory, by chance?
@ciliaspippi Yes i did. For 5 years in my childhood, only basic theory. I had top scores. Let's see, then. C Minor. C is the key which is directly to the left of every-group-of-two-black-keys on the piano. C minor, for me, is this sequence: C-flat, D-flat, E-... Wait, what's the term for russian "beemole" in english? ... checking wiki... FLAT? /feeling_stupid /laughs Why oh why i was assuming that "flat" in english means "note with no accidentals". My bad, guys, my bad! :D
That part at 2:30 actually has a pretty wonderful bass sound for those pedal notes, great piano tone and awesome comedy! What an awesome person, I've only just dicovered him but he seems brilliant.
It's a shame he didn't perform full pieces often. I really liked the interpretation of the main melody. Could only imagine what he would have done with the real music.
@musicalsandstuff that sounds incredible, the piece... was the intro rachmaninoff or tchaikovsky though? i'm guessing rachmaninoff though if that was the concerto i think i'll learn it then
The first man I hear making really funny things with classical music. And his touch on the piano is really fine. Hilarious, many thanks for sharing this.
Outstanding throughout...A superb performer...thank you so much for posting...

C minor is 4 flats no joke. C flat, D flat, F flat, G flat.
Unless i count 'em wrong though (and mr. Borge was intentionally tricking me, too). Knowing mr. Borge, i start to suspect the worst. :)
WVrrus 1 year ago
And if you hear this then there is definitely something wrong because that Tchaikovsky!

This concerto is written in four flat because Rachmaninov had to move four times while he wrote it... xD

C minor is 3 flats.
ciliaspippi 2 years ago 3
Ok let's see, there's C flat, D flat, F flat and G flat.
If my ariphmetics teacher wasn't tricking me, that's four, not three.
Perhaps he was tricking me (as well as mr. Borge), though? I start to suspectthe worse. ;)

@ciliaspippi As a college student majoring in music, this entire argument makes me want to cry. =P

@bandgeek8986 Wait, because I'm wrong, or because it is so obvious?
ciliaspippi 1 year ago
@ciliaspippi No no no, you're correct. 3 flats. I just thought it was obvious. The fact it had to be argued about at all makes my head hurt.

I thought so! Happy music theorizing!

ninjaassassin27 1 year ago
@ninjaassassin27 the intro and the following part were of Rachmanninoff Second. However, the last part wasn't, like Borge rightly pointed out.

@alciefrederic oooh wow. then i must learn it. thank you. *flips through his rachmanninoff*

@musicalsandstuff
I'd have to disagree, if you look up the song that he is talking about, he is correct. It s Rachmaninoff's second piano concerto.
