I hope I'm not alone in this department, BUT THESE ARMOR.... LIMB... THINGIES. They look SO REDUNDANT on the Shinken-Oh (or Samurai Megazord if your like me and watch PR.) Well, not redundant, but both the Kajiki Origami and the Kabuto Origami just don't look that well combined with Shinken-Oh....(hoping I got the name right.) The only one that looks good in my opinion is the Tora Origami.
Boukenger is certainly on my To-Do list, I just haven't gotten to it yet.
I got rid of the DriveMax Megazord shortly after I reviewed it on CDX. I did not have video capacity back then. But if I had, I would definitely have ripped into it!
I'd be very interested to hear your thoughts on the Power Rangers Samurai remakes of these, especially since the Beetle Zord does exactly what you wish the Kabuto Origami had done (head spins when it rolls). Also, will you be getting the Gokaiger toys? I really want to see how those turn out. Keep on keepin on!
@CollectionDX Yo EVA, your reviews are detailed, long and never dull or boring. Many MANY reviewers on Youtube could seriously learn a thing or two from you. But I have to say: it'd be worth your while to invest in an HD Camera. They really aren't that expensive (You can get a Flip HD camera for like 200 bucks or less) and it would increase the visual and audio fidelity of your reviews tenfold. Also, you should take some time to learn some good video editing software. That would be awesome!! :D
Wow, thank you very much! I'm honored to be praised so.
Ehh... I'm okay on the editing software for now, but I know my camera isn't the best. I got the camera secondhand from the CDX staff, so it was already an upgrade from what I originally had to work with. Only things negative about this camera is no auto-focus in-video, and I can't modify volume of recordings. (Currently, the volume you hear of me iis maxed out; I have to turn everything else down!)
Oh- some of my fav reviewers are Optibotimus, Thew (who gave me the recording of his band for this video FTW), and, of course, Vange1us.
And Peaugh and SeanxLong; some of the most dull, unimaginative, & uninspired TF reviewers out there... who are ONLY popular because they usually get unauthorized figures just so they can raise their hand(s) and say they covered it first. Not to cast stones, but screw 'em.
i dont mind new headers on goseiger but the reason why i dont get mecha anymore is because they dont stay with one combination like with timeranger, you dont have to keep swap things around, you can just stay with one zord or two main zords throughout the season, without beating your head in trying to do different combinations all the time with the zords, it was fun that way.
bandai expects you to buy 3 or 4 mechas without changing the headers on mecha.
I miss those days too before multiple accessory/attack-feature mecha came out. It only worked well for "GaoRanger", but all limb-swaps after that FAIL'd. But apparently Bandai can make 'em cheaper and make more money with a ton of accessory mecha rather than 2-4 singular big mecha. We just gotta make 'em understand we don't like it that much, but I don't see it changing in the near-future.
Mode changing in Kamen Rider hasn't stopped since 2003 (Kuuga).
@CollectionDX yeah i agree, what i liked about it in gaoranger/ wildforce i watched wildforce with limb swaps in those days, is that they didnt the use the aux mecha's all the time and there was a reason for them to be used, but there was one episode called taming of the zords where they were limb swaping like crazy, one zord comes in, one zords comes out, eh that was a nightmare, other than that it was cool because they were used to make the main mechas and not just for show and tell.
I remember watching MMPR-1's "Doomsday"- and it was one of my fav because of all the Zord action in it dominated the episode. Anyways, I LOVED seeing all the combos switching around, and all the attacks & finishers; it was just the greatest thing.
Then I watched "Age of the Questors" from Boukenger, which also had a lot of mecha swapping, and it just wasn't as fun; probably for the reason you give regarding the Power Animals.
I have that one bu a week later, the tabs on the phoenix broke. And a few months ago the Super Zeo megazord red ranger tab broke aling with the helmet tab. Both of the megazords got broken tabs before they turned one year old.
When I grabbed for my Zeo Megazord to film this sequence, I discovered most of the pink decals were fading! Weird thing is, it doesn't collect dust in direct sunlight, so IDK how that happened.
Aside from dust and old decals, the vast majority of my collection remains un-broken, even for toys as old as 19 years! I never played w/ em in sand, or threw 'em around, or bashed 'em together. I treated 'em all with respect. (Plus they weren't action figures.)
Much as people put him down, I really liked the "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen"-version of Megatron.
It's just that all the toys of him sucked. Hopefully, we'll get the same version of him for Bayformers-3 (i.e. not a new Galvatron), with a refined Leader-class toy.
@CollectionDX I cant help it, Blowkenjerks was the start of a trend where super sentai mecha should never venture....sure the gougou vehicles were ok on there own.
Sure as hell as better then freaking HEADERS >.>...
Wow, that took a bit of imagination to come up with. I actually had to think for a moment there about what the hell you were referring to. =)
Yeah, the completed Gougou Vehicles line had quite a few problems with it, not the least of which was introducing us to the first real Cluster-F**k Megazord in Super Sentai history. (I gave 'em props for trying at the time; I still say a proper 10-12-part combo is viable, provided it's done well.)
think about it...we JUST made it to the first half of the series and we already have a 17 peice clusterfuck on our hands....and after hearing the sound board of the leon celluar (which has preveiws of a the future combinations) I am absolutly terrified for whats to come
Well, not really. Even though we have a TON of mecha heads (WTF kinda gimmick is that anyways!?), I don't count them as individual robots/components since most of 'em don't have bodies. So really, right now we're only up to 10 "complete" mecha, including those of the new Gosei Ground.
@CollectionDX Cards? No, just no, they already ruined kamen rider with this over expanding card crap...its just another thing to collect, I say no good sir >.>
I say cards can be a good gimmick in and of themselves, but they just need to be utilized correctly. (Oh, c'mon- they weren't THAT bad in "KR Blade", but "KR Decade" was definitely wow-bad.)
The reason it doesn't work for "Goseiger" is strictly because of the head-swapping... thingy.
its a particle canon, it spins to generate energy as well as charge it and shoot out its particle beam. (my own made up reasoning) but it combines with other origami thats why the top horn comes off. as for the rest..idk its rather odd
it takes a bit of imagination but yeah. I hate how they changed the gimmick early on. it looks like nothing but sudo-origami and nothing but block formers. Eva 4 how do you feel about gosei ranger?

BTW, IMHO, block-formers are not a proper transforming toy, just a cheat.
thats true, but as far as goseiger goes, i think the saving grace with the toys is the lion zords. only 3 of them and from some of the scans i have seen, its not as bad looking at the regular mecha. that may be something to look into, yeah the head gimick is bad but not as much with the new zord
yeah it would be something to look forward to. Though would it kill bandai to put in a little more articulation in their megazords? Zeo zord had the best fallowed by the one made up from battle zords
Someday, I'll film a proper rant about poseability for one of my future reviews. I had the chance when I reviewed the DX GoRoader GT, but I only brushed the subject in favor of time.
Neck articulation, no excuse.
Elbow articulation, no excuse.
Wrist articulation, no excuse.
Proper knee articulation they touched on a bit, but usually goofed it up somehow.
so very true, though i was looking at the revoltech line and it hit me. Revoltech megazords. Sure you cant dissemble them into individual zords but you would gain all the posses that you can get. Along with a smaller scaled figure that can be more detailed and such. it be a grate way to cash in on the super sentai fandom
thats were i got the idea from. they looks really cool but lack articulation. Hell if they went with the soul chogoken type of thing it would be enven better and well worth the price.
Problem with SoCs is they don't lend themselves very well to combining mecha (Aquarion being the only exception, but was that REALLY an SoC?), and they're already pricey as hell. Given that a baisc hero combo mecha costs $70-80 nowadays, you can expect a even a smaller SOC to go for double that MSRP.
@CollectionDX the kabuto horn at the top forms a beak and neck for the combination of the tiger and fish one I forget the name im not sure if you know this or not please forgive me if you do
@CollectionDX I hear you it just goes to show you theyl make you buy EVERYTHING for a combination that looks alot less epic than the show depicts it to be I suggest buy the core megazord for the line and bypass all the other bullshit ya know?
Yeah, Tenku Shinken-Oh is most-definitely NOT following the trend. And the DaiKai-Oh & Mogyudai-Oh are wow-fugly, including any mode(s) that use either one/both.
The Shinken-Oh was the best part of the whole mecha line... and it cost $80 + S&H.
@CollectionDX would you say worth the 80? or wait for american reliese because it seems we wont get one or itl be as bad as engiene o into the rpm megazord >lP
$80, no. $60-70, yes, because the higher price usually is associated with an electronic feature of some kind, not a triple-changer w/o one. Besides, the Kame Origami is an uninspired hockey puck, and none of them has any poseability.
actually the yellow peice is not a beetle its a safety measure because the whole kabuto body is on the top whick might snap the back joint so they put it there to support the joint
Not quite. I still have the Kajiki Origami, and the DaiTenkuu to cover. The Kabuto & Kajiki kinda fell in my lap almost a year after they stopped production. But, unless I can find an Ika Origami and Kyuryu Origami (I don't want anything else from the show), these will be my last three "Shinkenger" reviews.
I hope I'm not alone in this department, BUT THESE ARMOR.... LIMB... THINGIES. They look SO REDUNDANT on the Shinken-Oh (or Samurai Megazord if your like me and watch PR.) Well, not redundant, but both the Kajiki Origami and the Kabuto Origami just don't look that well combined with Shinken-Oh....(hoping I got the name right.) thats were i got the idea from. they looks really cool but lack articulation.

One step at a time- go Revoltech first.

Less of a rant, and more of a pent-up rage-vent over how frustrated I'm getting with the franchise...

@CollectionDX I hear you it just goes to show you theyl make you buy EVERYTHING for a combination that looks alot less epic than the show depicts it to be I suggest buy the core megazord for the line and bypass all the other bullshit ya know?

@tformer0607

@CollectionDX would you say worth the 80? or wait for american reliese because it seems we wont get one or itl be as bad as engiene o into the rpm megazord >lP
tformer0607 1 year ago
@tformer0607
$80, no. $60-70, yes, because the higher price usually is associated with an electronic feature of some kind, not a triple-changer w/o one. Besides, the Kame Origami is an uninspired hockey puck, and none of them has any poseability.

actually the yellow peice is not a beetle its a safety measure because the whole kabuto body is on the top whick might snap the back joint so they put it there to support the joint

i take it shinkenger is the next series ur reviewing
ImmortalRuler 1 year ago
@ImmortalRuler
