I am not sure if you mentioned this in the video...I watched it and don't recall you mentioning the following: When you disasemble the unti, you actuall break two thermal paste spots, that are connected to the CPU's heat pipes. The inside shell of the imac's dome is actually the cpu's heatsink. Thermal paste must be re-applied to the mating points before putting the bottom back on the unit. Failure to do this will increase cpu temps greatly, and could cause failure.

I've been trying to install a working 40 Gig hard drive out of a PC and into my iMac G4 17" 1GHZ, but all it does is stick at the boot screen, I have my Os X 10.4 disc installed, and restarted it while holding the C key but nothing happens. I've tried other Hard Drives out of PC's but can't even get to the os x menu to try and reformat them. Any ideas?

Brian,

Officially, this model does not support hard drives larger than 128 GB. However, third-party sites have reported that this system will support hard drives larger than 128 GB, when running Mac OS X 10.2 or later.

An Ultra ATA/100 hard drive is backwards compatible with the Ultra ATA/66 originally found in this iMac.
