thanks alot for this man. Im starting to get into this style of guitar and I love it, its a ton of fun but im playing on an electric guitar first of all and ontop of that I have super slinky strings(I play alot of hendrix) so it makes it omewhat difficult
thank you so much for this video, i've been wanting to learn the basics of flamenco for quite a while, this music is so expressive and beautiful especially with the tap in between each strum. 5 stars
hey...can you please tell me the guitar tabs of the ones played in between the song..I got the rythem...but not the tune and tabs played in between...please make a video of it

Please make another video this teacher is confusing, i understand him its just that when he messes up he throws me off plus the sound sucks i could hardly hear him
keep on playing my friend! practice practice practice! play it real slow at first and try get it right, however slow it is... and just keep playing, naturally you will start playing faster :D and when you play it real well, you will enjoy what you are hearing and it motivates you to learn the next bit! good luck mate :)
Before I played guitar I didn't know this stuff either, but chords are when several notes are put together. On the guitar, chords have special names like E, E7, Em. E is a chord that makes the sound of the note E. E7 is the same, but slightly jazzier. Em is E, but minor. To know the fingerings for different chords I would suggest buying a book or looking them up on the internet. A chord only made of two notes is called a double stop. I've been playing for 1 and 1/2 years. Good luck with yours!

I learn to play the Rumba thanks to you ^ ^ I do have a question about the Rumba tab you published. On the 9th measure you show to use your middle and index finger for the right hand and use open and a finger for the right. Now I wonder what the numbers 3 1 4 1 mean on the top bar? I'm sorry if this sounds like a basic question.
These are the left hand fingerings. 3 = ring finger, 1 = index and 4 = pinky. This is standard classical guitar notation practice to write the left hand fingerings either above the stave like I have, or besides the notes themselves in the stave.
NOTE:
Actually you can use 4 where I have written 3. It's just that when I play it on the video I used the ring finger (3) in a moment of madness instead of the pinky (4) .... which is probably better.... so that's what I wrote i the music.
Thank you very much for your reply, actually before I read your post I was doing the wrong technique so I'm glad you wrote the post the way you did ^^ Thanks again.
just went to your site and registered to get the tabs...and was then told that your site is in development!??!? and check later for tabs... :-( why promise tabs here if they are not available???
first of all I want to say thank you, great video :). I'm interested to know why you use the thump and later the index finger for the strumming, why not all the time the Index? (Sorry if the question ist stupid, I play just for a year). I ask because if I try to use the thump it sounds quit different from the rest because I don't have a thump-nail (p,i,m I play with nails).Greetings from Austria and sorry for my bad english ;)
After one hour of practicing i can say: its easyier to knock on the guitar when you strum with the thumb, and i think with more tempo you get problems if you use the index all time
Thank you for your answer Haffelpaff, that's something I didn't think about but it seems very logical. You convinced me, I will practice it with the thump. Maybe I try to let my thumpnail grow. Greetings :)
Wow u really are amazing at not just playing but teaching! I only been practising for 20 mins and i got it slowly. A bit more practise and it will be up to the right tempo! XD Thankyou so much! After all the searching on here for a good teacher! x
Thanks for your really approachable and down to earth explanation. I prefer a teacher who makes an occasional honest mistake and who doesn't get all flustered about it - it shows their honesty and truth.

i think i got mixed up...is the wide opening for the symbol directs where to strum? like this ^ wide opening points down means down?
i'm sorry i'm self learning since there are only visual flamenco teachers here...they don't approve of note sheets here i have no idea why...i'm trying to learn them by myself
^ wide means down. From bass to treble. It is the conventional way to write the down direction in sheet music. Rasgueado down strokes play from the lowest to the highest string. The highest string on the guitar is closest to the floor so (physically) we stroke DOWN. However, in music notation the low notes are at the bottom of the music stave and the higher notes are at the top. That's why the down stroke direction arrows are pointing up in music notation.
I've never heard case before but im assuming he wants to see what your other hand is doing at the same time. At least thats the only other thing i can imagine he wants to see
the counting is 1 2 and 3 and 4 and. Bass 2 and Slap and 4 and Bass... It surprises me that YOU were the one who prepared the sheet music and confused with the counting.

You're amazing! It would be very much appreciated if you could perhaps make a short video on what the left hand does, if not that's okay. Another thing is, do you have any list of flamenco guitarists that beginners could study? If so, would you PM them to me if you have the time?
The sheet music clearly shows all the right hand indications. Fingers used and direction of each stroke etc. This video also clearly shows exactly how I play it. I don't understand how you can be getting confused. If you are asking can you vary the strokes in some way, that is entirely up to you if you choose to do things differently.
The note at the end of the sheet music refers only to the melody notes in measures 20 & 21, not the whole piece. It was also not referring to the strumming strokes, just the i and m fingers. I was excusing myself for doubling up on the i finger, which is something I don't normally do.
You can do whatever you want with this piece and the fingering. I have shown you what I do, but once you change things you are on your own. So your question, "Is it OK" is something you need to answer yourself.
gday sal, not bad mate, very impressive. I learned the guitar about 10 years ago, but only played for the first 6 or so, and am keen to pick it back up. How do I "subscribe" to these lessons? Cheers, Doug.
Yes but not too long. I can't see how you can do this without right hand nails. You will know when they are too long when you start hooking on the strings.
Download the tab. All the chord infomation is there in the sheet music. Click on the link under the video that says, "This is a video response to Flamenco - Rumba - guitar solo with tab". From there you can download the sheet music by following the link in the video description box.

I am greatful for this lesson, but you seen to play that you don´t intend to play when you speed it up a little. You noticed your self, you can´t help playing that second part when you are not supposed to according to your self??. Make it right from the beginning, it´s much easier for a beginner to understand then. Thanks /S

how do you keep your finger nail on your index finger from snagging the strings on the up stroke?
diabloben68 2 years ago
Slow down the strokes you are playing and get close to examine exactly what your fingernail is doing.
Keep the index finger nail short.
Experiment with the way you file your nail and playing angles.
Polish the underside of the nail.

The sheet music clearly shows all the right hand indications. Fingers used and direction of each stroke etc. This video also clearly shows exactly how I play it. I don't understand how you can be getting confused. If you are asking can you vary the strokes in some way, that is entirely up to you if you choose to do things differently.

well at the end you said any RH fingering is fine
that was what i meant :D

Cheers, Doug.

man u are awesome!!! i am going to subscribe!!! wuld u recomend me growing out the finger nails on my right hand/????

Yes but not too long. I can't see how you can do this without right hand nails. You will know when they are too long when you start hooking on the strings.

I love how you dissect things that would seem impossible and make them seem achievable (with practice, of course =))

The Chords are Dm, Am, E7, Am.

Thanks /S
