they never play ads from early first edition to first edition, they had ads just before the weather.

Yeh, the length of the 6am countdown depends on how fast the presenters read the stories in early first edition and if there is a lot of news or not. Usually the best time to get a long countdown, but not always. My longest one comes from a 2pm ToTH (watch?v=57cc9ErfW3A)

Have you connected your DVR device to your (i think) foxtel box? and if, how is it set up?

For recording Sky I just use a DVD burner hooked up to the Foxtel box. Usually just whack a blank one in and let it record for 6 hours then skim through it on the computer later and rip anything good I find.
