  • this SONG is dedicated to my ungrateful, good for nothing EX..REAL TALK..i hope you become homeless you LEECH.

  • @rivetgun2000 your sad....

  • The song is about being in an abusive relationship, but the little girl is the Woman. That is why she opened up to the girl. She seemed so real to her.

  • This song always reminds me about how I left the abuse behind..... how somebody was able to give me a new life!! There is no time to forget our past... no matter how good or bad!!!!!!

  • Fumbling Towards Ecstasy is my favorite album. It really helped me through the hard times in high school. This song is beautiful.

  • @kubrickbuff My favorite also, listen to Brandi Carlile also very good.

  • Being STEREOTYPICAL in this DAY & AGE is not only WRONG but also very FOOLISH.You cannot go by COLOR. CLASSY,rich,POOR, trashy,GHETTO, UNEDUCATED,smart,GENIUS, meanspirited, KINDHEARTED,vulgar,UGLY,beautiful,CREATIVE,talented,WORTHLESS,ambitious,GOOD MORALS,bad morals,THIEVES,bums, killers,DRUG ADDICTS,hopeless,HOPEFUL,cheaters, ...soforth and so on..PEOPLE are people, anywhere you go there'll always be a mixture!

  • this video is all too familiar for me...

  • it's not the wind that cracked your shoulder and knocked you to the ground ..

    don't understand my parents.. :'(

  • @silva09chiva ;( I sorry

  • @mandm8877

it's gonna be okay, as Bob Marley says ...

at least they pretend to be happy during the day..

I just will never understand why my mother is still by his side

Is it really love? Or is it because of us (her children) whatever it is she just isn't happy

We're just not good enough for him, I don't care anymore..

I'm good enough, I have a very supportive friend and I love my parents no matter how complicated they are

  • Positivly beautiful.... woman and song.

  • my interpretation is ..one of the things abuse causes is HORRIBLE self esteem..many people in that situtation think they deserve it.....the story it tells is about someone who's being abused is at a bar drinking away their misery....someone who cares about this person is saying....forget those people who abuse you.....i care about you....just let me try and ill show you.....your more than good enough,,beautiful...powerful..classic Sarah

  • Love this song!!!

  • just let me try

  • Very touching! Brought me to tears. Sarah looks beautiful!

  • sigh

  • wow, i love this song even moreso now. thank you sarah, i feel like am not alone in this. as this reminds me of my dad :-/

  • My god, Sarah McLachlan is so strikingly beautiful.

  • Yea and also about ungrateful people who dont value what they have and keep putting up excuses that they have had a rough life and keep acting like cowards and not see what is in front, and sadly these are the people they love. And at the end they will really have what they really ask for, and will really be ALONE

  • Wow. That was a great video. It's dark, but hopeful too.

  • She looks like Ziva from NCIS in this song. lol

  • I never saw this video, I never knew what she was depicting in this song. Totally changd my view on this song, I love it even more.

  • hell of a lot a way home for some one that has everything............you are not going home you are just a (work of .........) just plain lucky

  • A lot of people have the wrong perspective about abusive parents. When you have an abusive parent they use their power to make their spouse feel like they aren't good enough. This causes them to believe it after so long and it isn't easy for them to leave. If you know someone that is a victim, tell them you are there for them, and only once. Give them the option to get help. But don't cause them to stop talking to you because they will defend their partner until they see the truth.

  • This song is mentioned in the book, Club Dead by Charlaine Harris (love Alcide)

  • Should she have spent the $150,000 it took to make this video on other things instead, like 3rd world medicine, food, water, housing for refugees, education for poor village children? She could have, I guess, but that would be her choice. Her first responsibilty is to keep her career above water. I'm glad she made the video. She's one of the best out there.

  • Hey, he's got a Hamer Special just like mine!

  • didnt realize how old this song was. i dont listen to canadian music but i love sarah mclachlan music!!

  • The way I understand the song is initially sung from his perspective, His wife knows about his infidelities (I don't have to pretend she doesn't expect it from me) then turns around and i would assume during an argument asking her why it's not good enough..The second verse is pretty explanatory to the video...

I think we need to realize the song is sung in conversation not from a single persons point of view.

  • AMANDA AND SHAUNDA LOVE YOU FOREVER !

  • I love sarah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The song is about how Vevo sucks like an abusive father.

  • @neonKow lol

  • That's my girl Ne Ne. She is good enough!

  • When I was reading "Club Dead" by Charlaine Harris, this song was mentioned in that book and now that I know what the song sounds like, it fits so well for one of the scenes in the book; I just don't want to say which one... Everyone hates spoilers. ;-)

  • <3 tht song!

  • Are there two versions of this song? I dunno maybe the one I heard in that HermioneXLuna video was acoustic or demo...

  • yes there are different versions, the "acoustic" quieter version is on her "freedom sessions" cd.

  • Free2bepurp - The song is about an abusive husband and father. It's looking at the situation from each perspective. I should know, my father was abusive, my mother stayed, and I received the blunt of his anger many times. Listen to the words more...and with a more open mind, try to see it from the perspective of each person, including the girl, and her friend trying to ease her pain.

  • @Dinkeycreek I'm so sorry you went through all that... I agree about this song. I was the Mom- but I got us the hell out of there :)

  • This song is wonderful, but listen carefully..the video is deceiving. The lyrics indicate a relationship-woman-to-woman..she's telling her, leave that situation, I 'll be good to you...

  • A beautiful song by Sarah McLachlan.. is anyone surprised? I never am.. she never disappoints with such beautiful melodies and lyrics, and the most beautiful+heartfelt voice. Yeah Sarah, you're SO much more than "good enough" :)

  • That was my take on the song, also...
