Kofi so called general secretary of UN is a utter human shame, and example how human being can fall so low, being on this position he allowed unseen manipulation with his personality by others.
Africa just wants to feed itself, environmentally friendly or not.
We western farmers have the luxury of choosing to be environmentally friendly; we have more than enough to eat.
Being sustainable and environmentally friendly is certainly the desired method, but not at the cost of starving people.
Volume of food is needed today. Achieving a balanced soil fertility and a healthy microbial population is an ongoing thing and not something achieved in 6 months.
@eatingamandarin it's kind of like the people who don't want Africa to have any coal-powered electrical plants, and go straight to wind or solar power. But, as you say, they want industry. The people need a steel mill or a lumber yard and infrastructure, and at this point in time, the technology just isn't sufficient enough to run things like that on solar and wind power.

We must look at this holistically.
