this sounds better than vegas... that piece of crap is constantly freezing on the update. with 2gig of ram and 3.3ghz with 512 graphics card. it STILL fails. :(

They disabled it because the software editing tool was very good, and some amateur movie makers were able to download it and make amazing productions, with very little cost! (This is from something I read so long ago, I can't remember where, but if I stumble across it, I'll reply w/ it). Many people were able to make amazing productions, much like movies, and Avid, I guess, came across these videos and were like 'Crap! We gotta get people to pay for this!' And they were losing money!

I agree that Avid at times can be acting pretty stupid, and this free version is the least of anything.... Personally Sony Vegas 8 is a better editing tool, but the Avid products always produce 'professional' outputs. Sony Vegas 8 has some weird problems in producing things, but then again all video editing software does....

Yay i got it to work but the only thing thats pissing me off is i cant import video files from an actual AVID DvD that i got when i bought the AVID Editing book for school. It imports but all i hear is audio the video says MEDIA OFFLINE. It worked in the beginning but all i saw was video no audio now its vice versa. Avid is so gay sometimes.

Question- I succesfully downloaded the program. When I right clicked on launch app. (1 min 23 sec.) I did not get the big long list of options. I only got copy paste cut delete and properties. When I clicked properties, i was given the same window, but with only the general tab. Saying Launch.exe. It also said it was a compressed file (not as large as yours) what should I do?

Also, is this the best free advanced video editing software?
