@konisia69 HAHA. I'm shoe size 5. That translates to 220, which is a children's size in Korea. 225 (5.5) is the first adult size. You can usually only get size 220 by special order. So BRING SHOES.
I wonder if I could find clothes? haha i am only 4'11 with size 5/6 feet, but i am a bit chubby but I do get away with wearing small to medium clothing here in canada. I have always wanted to order clothing from the yesstyle site but I am scared that everything is tiny :(
My friend (girl) who is 5'7 and goes to Japan a lot can never find clothes that fit well, maybe some t-shirts, but not jeans or shoes. And it's not like she has big feet either, size 8. o.o
Ha, Martina thinks HER feet are big... she's 20-something with size 10/11 feet, and I am (from Canada) stuck with size 11/12 feet at 16 years old.. Wow. It's not even funny how outrageous I think this is. It's not faaaaaair!!!
do you have "Sarsparilla drink" (or just Sars(?) drink - I know... that one flu virus was also called SARS, but theyre totally different) over in Korea? Sarsparilla drink tastes very similar to root beer. kind of like a combination of root beer and coca cola, and fizzy, too! It's quite refreshing.
i just wanna say, that guy guys are awesome, seriously ur my hero! im mean im like 14. but its soo cool to have videos from u guys if i want to know a certain thing ors omething. even this video, i really wanna move to korea someday and u guys are such good helpers. thanks! ^^
...... =____= Martina is soo right about the bra thing. Girls if you bigger than a Dcup like me.. Don't even contemplate buying clothes from Korea. You might as well pack your whole closet.
There's a rumor going around that guys are tougher than girls. Oh please. Can you carry an 8lb baby in your stomach for 9 months and then survive hours of labour? Can you cook, clean and talk on the phone all at the same time? Can you bleed for a week and not die? Can you walk in 5 inch heels? Can you cry all night, then wake up the next morning and act like everything is ok? Remember guys, girls are only helpless until their nail polish is dry. Copy and paste this if are proud a be a women! ♥
whaaaaaaaah I'm such a lucky european girl... I'm small so that even small Kikwang is bigger then me... I can get all my clothes because I'm small in the awkward area too and I'm not easily smelly muhahahahah I knew my heart is asian xD
I'd just like to say that I am really a big fan of you guys. I'm Korean but I've been living in the states for about 10 years now and it's been about 6 years since I last saw my family. You guys help me keep in touch with my home and keep me informed of what's changed since I was last there. I really miss Korea and hopefully I'll be able to go back soon! Until then I'll be keeping up with your videos! Thank you so much guys! :)
Simon, I am with you on the Ranch dressing! I did find it in a shop in Itaewon for like 8 bucks a bottle, but the next time i go back I might just bring along a bunch of hidden valley ranch pakcets and "make" my own.
@natygoly We usually just sleep in beds, pretty much Western style. But sometimes people lay the mattress on the ground and sleep on that, or just straight up put a blanket on the floor and sleep on that. It's because in most Korean houses the heating comes up through the floor, so it's warmer and (for some people) more comfortable to sleep on the floor. The younger generations usually just sleep in regular old beds, though.
Oh wow! This answered one of my questions XD I always wondered why Martina looked like she was like more korean dress-wise then Simon his clothes look so Foreigner. I learned so much :D Wasn't it costly to buy an entires worth of clothing though? Very interesting
@GiselleB961 I'm also 5'8, but it comes down to your body shape. Because I'm curvy, I can sometimes fit Korean clothing but it won't fit properly. Button up stuff will NOT shut AT ALL and if it's a short dress, it turns into a shirt on me. Pants, forget it.
Hi! I was wondering if you ever made that video on 'How to Bring Your Pet to Korea' because i'm going to be in Korea and I want to bring my cat with me when I go there and I have no idea about what I have to do ;/
About the deodorant thing. There are these "Crystal Deodorants" that is pretty much just a crystal stick that you have to wet and just roll it on. It works pretty well and lasts forever so you guys can try it out.
Actually, you CAN get Deodorant in Korea. Like you can get the Deo-dry in The Body Shop, and they have these nifty re-fills you can purchase along with it, for the roll-on version (there is a stick version also).
And then there is the "White musk sport" anti-perspiration deo for men, so you can smell LIKE A MAN.
@Tishune yea but they're expensive as hell and are pretty small..you can always get Dri-colo at drug stores to actually get rid of your stinky sweat glands too lol
I love Ranch! I'm not surprised that it's hard to find in Korea. I have two sister in the UK, and I think the one in London finally found a place to buy it, after living there for over ten years. My mom would send her care packages with Ranch and other hard to find yummy stuff.
This video is super useful. Now I know that if I do get to go to Korea (which I really hope to), I probably won't be able to find anything in my size (shoes 9/10, bra DD).
lol it's not like there aren't ANY korean girls with big chests (look at g.na XD.)
but quite a few girls in asia don't have very big chests, so most places don't sell a wide range of bra sizes. not saying that all asian girls have small chests, but quite a few do (including me lol)
i gotta remeber that when i go over there in a few years. ive been planing 2 go there since i got out of school but money was my only problem. and now a hav 2 rember 2 pack all this stuff 2! its going 2 be a long couple of years.
I think the reason Koreans don't smell is because they sweat it all off in public baths and saunas. For one thing I know in Australia we don't have public baths.
@coolJoyC um if you can control your time of sweating yes... but a lot of asians lack the aponine sweat glands that westerners have (there are two types of sweat glands and one stinks, other doesn't)
Simon And Martina! Just a little friendly tip from a fellow Foreigner :) If you can't find deodorant, lemons is a GREAT alternative. You can sweat all day and not smell like anything! I have tried this many times and have been happy with the results. Thank you for your time~~!
@eva0208 Well I usually just cut the lemon in fours and put the three rest in a ziplock baggy so it doesn't spoil. Then I take the piece I picked and just make sure the juice gets on my armpits. And you're done :)
No D bras? Then how does G.NA find anything for her knockers? Are there at least any tailors, anyone doing custom made clothing? They do that in Cambodia in markets :D And I also have big feet, so if I won't be able to shop, then I hope I can get custom made shoes. There must be someone doing this.
But no deodorant? Sonyeo Sidae don't stink? They don't even sell perfumed deodorants that Guerlain has? Ah, well, I have plenty of deodorants anyway, although I haven't found Samsara deodorant yet.
you guys are the most adorable dorky couple ever! watching you guys has (and reading your FAQ) has help me make the decision to try teaching english in korea for 1 year before going to medical school. ill be a senior this fall in college so i need to figure out fast what i have to do to make that happen! but i love you guys and would love any advice ya got!
I'm a girl. I'm 6'3 and I have a shoe size of 9..... What size is that in Korea? I asked (forced) my family to come to korea this summer and I wanna know what my shoe size is cause I wan't to buy lotsa clothes and shoes and accessories there cause theyre.. cute :D XD
hey simon martina i have a question i am planing to go to korea next summer and study there for a year and i have a braces do u know any dentist that they will tighten my braces once a month do u think i can find that kind of places in korea??? plz help me i really wanna go to korea if there is a place like that =)
i saw your costco video and you can actually make butter all you need to do is blend milk in a blender until its thick . so you can make soft cookies yay!!!!!!
you can make ranch dressing with mayo, spices and herbs i recommend looking up paula deen's recipe. also you can make a&w root beer they made a root beer making kit.
Omg the clip where the SGB Mc is sniffing Hyukkies shoe and his armpit. HAHA.
And thank you so much for the information! I swear, everyone told me that I should pack lots and lots of head and shoulders and remember to tell my mom to send more when I run out because they didn't have it in Korea. That would be so so expensive.
fingers crossed I am going to Korea in August, so I have been looking for alot of videos like this and surprisingly there aren't that many! I am a C cup so I had heard about the bra thing, but I am glad I won't have to bring tons of shampoo and stuff! I also heard I should brings lots of tampons... thoughts?
my father is the same size as simon, and while we lived in korea, he had to have everything tailor made (although we lived on base in Yongsan, even the PX didn't have stuff in his size). it got pretty expensive after a while, so he had to order everything online =/
Still, I never realized you had such informative videos! Why aren't you getting paid by the Korean government? Seriously.
I'm new watching you alls vids...I love them! Where do you teach at in Korea? I use to teach for Samyook Institute in GwangJu BukGu...You all make me want to go back there...lol Stay safe, be blessed!
Very informative! What you could not find in Korea, or turns out to be very expensive there, what nothing compared to what I expected! Thanks for the tips for someone who is planning to travel there, or even work there :)
I am amazed at all of the stuff you have to bring with you to Korea. I was expecting the taller/bigger clothing and shoes (although the bra news is kind of weird-- don't ANY Korean girls have bigger chests?) but deodorant? Deodorant? Dude, are they gods over there or something? Don't they smell bad like the rest of the world? Crazy.

I think you can find ranch sauce, imported snacks from Costco.(Of course, if you can't live w/o a specific brand, bring them!)
We now have some deodorant here but I was told from a foreigner that they're not strong enough.
I also heard cond*ms might be too small for you.

Simon And Martina! Just a little friendly tip from a fellow Foreigner :) If you can't find deodorant, lemons is a GREAT alternative. You can sweat all day and not smell like anything! I have tried this many times and have been happy with the results. Thank you for your time~~!

@narumishi lemons? so you cut a lemon in half and rub in on your arm pits, or how do you do it? sounds interesting :)
eva0208 8 months ago
@eva0208 Well I usually just cut the lemon in fours and put the three rest in a ziplock baggy so it doesn't spoil. Then I take the piece I picked and just make sure the juice gets on my armpits. And you're done :)
narumishi 8 months ago
@narumishi cool, i'll remember that for when i'm in korea. it's probably even better than deodorant :D thx

Ah, well, I have plenty of deodorants anyway, although I haven't found Samsara deodorant yet.

koreangirl891 10 months ago
Omg the clip where the SGB Mc is sniffing Hyukkies shoe and his armpit. HAHA.
And thank you so much for the information! I swear, everyone told me that I should pack lots and lots of head and shoulders and remember to tell my mom to send more when I run out because they didn't have it in Korea. That would be so so expensive.

Ajosshis in tracksuits did smell of dust and debris, it sticks to the body when you sweat, even if your own body doesn't emanate anything stinky.

my father is the same size as simon, and while we lived in korea, he had to have everything tailor made (although we lived on base in Yongsan, even the PX didn't have stuff in his size). it got pretty expensive after a while, so he had to order everything online =/

Crazy.
