Change the port on what part? The simple answer is yes, but I will caution you that every time I've changed the port on my mysql server, some scripts don't adapt very well and often result in errors when trying to connect.

PCLinuxOS just do a search for LAMP if you have PCLinuxOS KDE GNOME any PCLinuxOS. thats why PCLinuxOS Rocks
