@ElaineKasua its not just SM. every single record company out there, especially the ones in hollywood, demand that their artists remain fit and maintain a certain weight. the reason is simply becuz if they dont look good, they will lose fans who will move onto hotter looking guys, and they will lose potential sponsors for major photoshoots and fashion campaigns, which makes alot of money for the boys.

look at JYJ's jaejoong and how much skinnier he looks now compared to before.

shindong on the other hand had to actually gain some weight few years ago because losing weight went against his original image of the chubby charismatic SUJU member pple loved. this lost SM and shindong money because mags and fashion outlets were no longer interested in him
