  • love the third man intro. Very lovingly done.

  • Moviedrome is sadly missed. Mr Cox is sadly missed.

  • I had this on tape but it disappeared *sniff sniff*

  • alex cox sucks cocks

  • @cmdocker How well informed and articulate you are.

  • I must be the only person on earth who just doesn't get this movie.

  • Theres nothing to 'get', really.

  • OK then, let me rephrase: I think that the movie is awful and hardly any different than the countless clones that followed it. The characters are all boring and impossible to care about, and excepting Carpenter's keen compositional eye, not particularly good.

  • And I'm pretty much the only one in the universe who holds said opinion.

  • There you go, wasn't that better?

  • Great stuff...

I quoted from this in my Degree Dissertation on horror movies!

  • coxy is still the man

  • Loved Cox. Hated Cousins.

  • Moviedrome was class!

  • Moviedrome was great and Alex Cox's intros were tops! I saw some of my most bestest fave films first, via his show.

I remember Cox's intro for "American Werewolf" with great fondness. Also, "Q the Winged Serpent", "Silent Running", "Mad Max2" and "TXH1138".

  • yeah, his terminator intro became part of the film for me.

  • Moviedrome made me aware of the other side of cinema, cox (and BBC2) i thanks you

  • I was gonna upload this...but yours is miles better than my crappy tape version.

  • alex cox and mark cousins just did it for me, i could relate tp them as a kid. mark kermode is ok but he hasnt got that certain likeableness. moviedrome was just awesome for kids getting into film.

  • When Mark Cousins took over from Cox later in the series, Cox proposed they film a small scene where Cousins killed him off or where Cox morphed into Cousins. They never filmed it.

  • Great stuff - thanks for making it available. I don't suppose you've any other Moviedrome intros to hand? If so, I'd be chuffed to see them.

  • No, these were posted by a kind soul on UKnova.

Halloween has moments for sure, but Carpenter's best was yet to come.

  • @tweedlebop The Thing?

  • Are these from your own personal collection? They are in great condition. I vaguely remember seeing this at the time.

And I agree with Cox...I love Carpenter and Curtis, but don't much care for Halloween.
