In the past I did not think there was a chemistry between Gene and Dana but I have changed my opinion in this regard they both seem to have a comfortable and peacable way about each other in their films 7:14 captures it ''nice one Benny'' and thanks for posting
Thanks for the offer, but I am swamped with other journalism for some time to come. There is so much research into things of the present day that I am way behind on. Thanks again.
I love both Dana Andrews and Gene Tierney. Great together too. Gene really loved these Film Noir movies and she's so great at them! I want to see this movie!
It is actually quite a good movie. There is lots more to it than I included in the video; namely, Mark Dixon's scuffles with the gangsters and how the police solve the murder. I know you will enjoy it.
Also, Oleg Cassini, Gene's husband was costume design in this film as was in many of her films. I'll bet they got a lot of work for each other-that's great to work as a team.
I feel Dana Andrew never achieved the kind of greatness as an actor he deserved. He was so credible, genuine, authentic, especially when he played a rather tough cop, or someone business-like, like that. He carried on, though, still delivering good work, though passed over for many awards he should have gotten.
Gene remained friends with Oleg for the rest of her life. Dana Andrews was an amazingly competent actor. His performance in this movie is right on. But, I guess his deadpan style did not ingratiate him enough with the academy.
Yes, Gene had reportedly told people that she was happiest with Howard Lee, the Houston oilman she married last, but maybe that was because that was where she was at that current time of her married life. I'll always feel a psychic connection to Gene Tierney for it was the same lobby, The Warwick, I saw her in that I also saw and met and talked with the late Elizabeth Montgomery, star of 'Bewitched' & other films. After she narrated 'The Panama Deception', she got a quick cancer and soon died.
I do not see how she could have been happy for very long with anyone but Howard with studio instigated persecution of Oleg, religious rejection by Kennedy, an attempt at religious conversion by Prince Ali. Oleg saw Howard Hughes as an opportunist who was not really interested in Gene's welfare, and almost bashed in his head for it.
I think Howard was providing some medical care with specialists for the birth defective baby, and offering more care, but also would like to have had Gene in his stable and as an actress for his RKO studios. However, I don't think he deserved getting a board taken to him by Oleg.
Gene did the right thing by Kennedy. When he was returning from the restroom, I think at a restaurant, she said bye bye. What's interesting is that she, M. Monroe, other women all suffered mental health allegations.
Yes, Howard Hughes did help out at a critical time; so he does deserve some credit. Funny about Howard Hughes though, it was while watching "The Aviator" that my interest in Gene Tierney was rekindled. I was curious to learn more about his girlfriends when I came across Gene's name. That famous photo from "The Shanghai Gesture" did it.
One day I will make the journey to Houston from Ireland and go to Glenwood where Gene rests and place a rose there to Genes memory, Gene had that somthing I cant quite put my finger on,I never tire of watching Genes Movies, not to mention Genes beauty and what a beautiful woman Gene was.
Yes, I liked Craig a lot when I was a kid, and it's neat how some things are psychic-connected. Later when I saw Alexis Smith, Canadian born actress, I think, I admired her beauty and talent before I learned she was married to Craig in real life. Unfortunately she died of brain cancer and he also died of cancer. Strange how it claimed both of them.
I think it's nice to remember your favorites as couples, also. She did a version of 'Of Human Bondage', I think. There were 3 at least.
Precioso vídeo de una estupenda e interesante película. Grandes Dana y Gene. Muchas gracias.

Miss Tierney rests with her husband, Texas oilman Howard Lee..a few paces away from Howard Hughes here in Houston, in the Glenwood Cemetery.
