Dont ever wrap your Xbox in a towel my mate work in fixing electrical items (computers and Xbox etc) and it acttuly burns the plastic inside of the xbox it melts its quite funny when 10 yr olds do it, but 100 pounds just for a new one soooo dont wrap in a towel ppl....

If you got the new one, just make sure there's nothing blocking out the top and right side of it.

what i did to fix mine, was like the penny trick mixed with the towel trick

fIrst i did the whole process of the penny trick and then I did my version of the towel trick (Wich is, let the xbox 360 overheat for 30 minutes with 3 towels or 3 sweaters wrapping it, and then put the console in the freezer for about 8 minutes) and it worked.

HERE'S HOW YOU SOLVE THE PROBLEM:

1.) Unplug the system and disconnect everything. 2.) Use the can of compressed air ( the same type you use to clean computer keyboards), and clean the fan, the input ports, and the controller ports.

3.) Plug everything back up, and you're good to go. Don't send your system to Microsoft or pay for a bullshit e-book.

Yes, but you will have to redownload all of your arcade games, DLC, etc. You don't need to erase it, but you need to download it again to have the licenses to play it offline.

I love my xbox and all but having this be my second time with this problem i'm fuckin pissed. My freind had the RRoD, but I never got it, so it doesnt happen to every system. He and I ended up fixing it with a T9 screwdriver, electrical tape, 8 pennies(yes, the copper coated money), and some thermal paste and we fixed his. It's not too hard to fix if you have the will and a tiny bit of know-how.

not worth it man. no coincidence that millions of people got the RROD. Microsoft will NOT take care of you if the thing goes shitward after the "warranty." I bought 5 360's total. 3 when it was first released, for my son nephew and niece. None of their 360's work now, and only one was returned refurbished through warranty, but failed again a month or so later.

Bought 2 more again when Microsoft supposedly updated w/new DVD drives.

Mine froze the first time I used it,then came 3 red rings.

if you have a modded xbox you might as well do this because you cant take it back but if you have a unmodid one dont bother. thats my advise.

8/10get the ring of death1.because over there memory wires melting or what ever from over heating2.the GPU-CPU brake connection with memory because of these X-plate things.

The only way to provent this it's to 1.build a fan in the side of the xbox to stop over heating but this will keep it cool but will not stop the red ring of death or you can do 2.replace the X-plates with screws so it does not bend the CPU-GPU coursing them to brake with the memory.Basicly you are modding your 360
