  • Inspirational and moving story! Too bad a film like this could never be made today, much less win Academy Awards, as the past two generations have been brainwashed into believing evolution and that Christianity is something to be mocked and ridiculed.

  • One of the best scenes in one of the best movies. Thanks for posting it.

  • man I get chills every time I see this scene. THAT'S RIGHT SON! THEY THAT WAIT UPON THE LORD RUN WITHOUT WEARYING!

  • Thank you for putting this on youtube. I wanted to share it with my facebook friends. I'm visiting with my father who is bedridden. Chariots of Fire was on TV this morning. We watched it and then we read Isaiah 40 together. He had a light of revelation in his eyes right after reading it.

  • @Yolysings Thank you for sharing that :)

  • I have this Script tattooed next to my heart....

  • One of my favorite passages of Scripture. One of my favorite movies. As a Christian, I never fail to find hope in Isaiah 40, especially when read in this scene.

  • Beautiful scripture....it brought tears to my eyes....

  • Great clip!

  • Movie makers used to know how to create inspiration scenes without being trite and cliched. USED TO. This is truly an inspirational scene.

  • @GrizzlyBohemian Indeed. Ian Charleson's delivery with a sincerity and authenticity that is difficult to match.

  • the way the film communicates verse 30 (for those who know the text, and even perhaps to those who don't) is absolutely brilliant.

  • Marvellous. Filmed at Broughton Place in Edinburgh. It's an upmarket auction house now and occasional Festival Fringe venue. This was probably it's last honourable use.

    Thanks for providing.

  • one of the best scenes in the movie

  • @Rich263 Indeed. In fact, it is my personal favorite.

  • 1:40, exactly how I looked in gym class every single day.

  • A message for any/all to understand our significance and relationship to our creator

  • What a beautiful juxtaposition of Scripture and running in this scene. The imagery of Aubrey Montague coming in fifth in his race during the pouring rain is one to which many of us can runners can relate.

  • The section of sacred scripture that Ian Charleson reads has always been a personal favorite. The imagery only grants it even greater power in my opinion.

  • @Mechanized0 do you like Isaiah 53:5 too?

  • @Domodeath Indeed, yes.
