@DrStrawfoot This is an excellent banjo to start with . Go visit banjohangout dotcom for reviews, helpful advice and more. I bought this one from andy banjo, google it and you will find it.
@silasbanjo Thank you for your quick answer, I'm really thinking about it, the website you gave me is a good one. I have a question, what do you think of the Grafton Oberon electric 5-string banjo on the Andy Banjo website ? I wonder how the acoustic sound could sound like.
@DrStrawfoot Sorry but really i'm not the best person to give advice . Why not ring them up and ask Andy. I spoke to them once and they were really helpful.
The way you play that thing you make me proud that I have a Saga banjo too. I've had one with a resonator on it since 1981. Thanks for posting and keep up the great playing.
You do a great job on the banjo! This was posted a year ago, so I bet you're doing a lot more these days!! Great playing! I'm trying to learn this song on my dulcimer - been a challenge!
The great thing about Old TIme music is that it is music from people playing for their own enjoyment, and those of the people around. That's why you put it up on YouTube! It's a perfect match. It's not polished, and plastic, and unattainable by the common man...it's real! Far more real than any "reality show". It says that even though I might enjoy listening to someone else make music, I am perfectly capable of making my own...right here in my own house, with my own hands, and enjoy it. Nice
@Bisbonian Very well said and its also a kind of wonderful cultural exchange !! Long live home made music on youtube ! & All the best to You .. Yours Guy
Very nicely done and I very much appreciate what you've said up there about perseverance... I listen to a LOT of clawhammer and want so much to get a banjo...looking a lot a Zepp's web site...he plays so well too. It is just that I hate to get the thing and then not stick with it...I played tuba for 8 years but don't know nothing about no string instruments.I just need to get to it. Maybe this Christmas...Santa will come through.
Playing clawhammer banjo for me is a bit like walking backwards, chewing gum, and learning Chinese at the same time. I'm a diligent student, though, and really like how you play this tune. Inspiring! Thanks! Banjo Jim
GREAT job. i play this too and will post it someday but if i waited until i could play it that clean and well i NEVER would. am hoping that "click" thing you talk about in the intro is coming to me soon???
Really great playing Tom .. I love this tune .. Very clean and involved playing .. You must have played other instruments first to sound this far along at 6 years . I think YT for clawhammer is not about showing off ( or dose not have to be ) its just about celebrating the instrument and playing for others interested in the same things.. Your Great . I wish I was there so we could have a walk and play some tunes . All the best , Guy
Thanks Guy, I got to say I am meeting some good people through this ! One day I am going to cross the pond and go to clifftop or some other gathering.
sounds beautiful man. really. any modifications/set up changes to that thing?
