I was diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome when I was 12 and then started dialysis when I was 19. But thankfully I received a kidney transplant and its been a year and a half and I feel great. Everyone doesn't go into renal failure with this disease and I am really pulling for you. Parents stay on top of his meds even when he is older and may go through an invincibility stage. Be strong lil buddy...you are already a trooper. Remember never stop enjoying being a kid!

i have had ns for 14 years its a tough road to go down i must say still aint cured but i had a medicine called rituximab ask ur consulttant about it and that was on noverber10th 2010 and i havent relapes touch wood

I had nephrotic syndrome but was finally cured after 7 years. But thanks to it i had gained a massive amount of weight and had developed late. Make sure you make your kid stay active cause it ruined my life for me.

Thank you so much for posting this. My daughter has MCD and this is such a true representation of the the disappointment we feel in the morning when a relapse occurs. You seem so encouraging to your son and it is clear he takes strength from you. Many prayers for Tyler!

I have NS mcd i was 19 when I was diagnosed with the disease a month shy from my 20th b-day... iv been on the meds for over two yrs n its not going away.. When I go on a low dosage it comes back. I start with 75 mg of prednisone n work my way down when I get around 15 -10 mg it comes back . iv relapsed like 5 times now im prolly gonna have to take a stronger medication which really sucks bc of the side effects!! all the best 2 u and ur son

@havik27 i have it too! and i'm 19! i thought i was alone!! i was diagnosed at 17. i'm actually getting worse for some reason, but yay! i still have a ways to go but i'm glad that your almost done. it gives me hope for myself

@havik27 I was also on prednisone when I was diagnosed at 8, but I was only on it for a few months, but some of the effects have stayed with me. You may want to see if you are steroid resistant like I was. The doctor put me on prograf 5 years ago and it's working well with little side effects. You should talk to your doctor about it.
