  • NES Max.

    Nuff said.

  • In the Uk we did not have the saturn because it was called the mega drive

  • @mattweb1992 Actually, in the UK, the Sega Genesis was called the Mega drive. In the UK, you had the Sega Saturn, but it was called... the Sega Saturn. You probably got confused because the controllers are so similar.

  • What is the song?

  • This model 1 controller to me is the maybe one of the best controllers in my opinion ever made for video games!

  • The sega genesis 6 button controller is by far the best looking and best preforming controller sega has ever made!

  • @sega7 Genesis arcade stick. Nuff said.

  • Design-wise most Sega consoles and controllers r cool-looking,but Sony's r wayyy better!

  • @Pimpczar2011 not really

  • You taught your dog to attack the Odyssey 2 controller by saying "Go!" just for a game review... that's awesome!

  • wow im watching this like 60 videos later and they must have gotten him better equipment in the other videos cuz his voice is better

  • Go! Oh... oh god!

  • if i made a system, and i dont get enough sales, ill no u bought one

  • @InecomCompany @Classic Game Room you're one of the best reviewers :) :p

  • where did sega go i've never herd of then since the 90s

  • @manlyshaytard Basically, after the Dreamcast was eclipsed by the PS2, Sega pulled out of the hardware business, making all of their games cross-platform for Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony. :\ Sad, isn't it. I miss their consoles.

  • i have 5 mega drive/genesis controllers .... one of them's d-pad has the same glossy, smooth finish as the saturn's model 1 controller .... would you happen to know why???? and it's much smoother too, particularly around the edges.

  • i like this gamepad.

  • I just got a saturn with 2 of these controllers...LOVE EM

  • oh I blame myself I used to have a Sega Master System and Genesis I was thinking of getting a Saturn at 1st but I decided to go get a Nintendo 64 Instead

  • LOL, wow Mark sounded like a mature KERMIT THE FROG in '08!

  • ok mark i have a review for you go to walmart, ebay, or amazon and type in "25 GAMES" its like a sega saturn controller that has 25 games built in to it

  • Am i hallucinating or did I just see a Mexican dude flying in the sky?

  • The model 2 controller is more like the Genesis standard controller, but the model 1 controller is like the 6 button controller. I don't have a model 1 controller, but the model 2 is just as good.

  • As far as the Saturn controllers. 3D pad for compatible games and 3D fighters, Model 1 pad for 3D games that don't work with the 3D pad, Model 2 controller for 2D games.

  • Even though the Saturn didn't sell great, I still love it. I am younger so I wasn't fortunate enough to grow up then. :(

  • @naptimewithturtles2 But you have the advantage of longer life then us lol When were all dead, and we didn't give are consoles to anyone you'll be there at the auction to buy them.

  • These People Who Type Everything With Capitals, Are They Robots?

  • @fiddlebender88 WHY DOES NOBODY KNOW HOW TO SHUT CAPS LOCK OFF!! SO OBNOXIOUS!!!!

  • this controller is big enouth to fit your hands

  • @dikegamer That's what she said ;D you just wanted somebody to say didn't you? :D

  • this controller is big

  • "Its nice and big and easy to grip" Twss !

  • Different opinions suck

  • Nintendo doesn't copy anybody. They create thier own unique controller designs and so did sega. Btw sega is not as good as nintendo financially. Nintendo makes a lot more money than sega. The super nintendo delivered the VERY FIRST SUPER MARIO RPG game. It was superior in every way. And it's easier to find than the saturn.

  • @Biscuit398

Nintendo doesn't copy anybody? LMFAO! Reminds yourself, why did the SNES controller have curves?

  • Im Getting One On Chrismas Im 10 And My Grandma Is Getting It At Disc Replay For 35.99 Or 35.00

  • @gerryf964 lol @getting a sega saturn for christmas from your grandma 15 years after it was made and the games a expensive and unusual to find :P , if your a new gamer just get a super nintendo or somthing easy to find and cheap

  • @Leoooonard I Have A Super Nintendo And I Dont Care For It Because It Almost Killed The Genesis With Its Awful Games And Controls The Only Good Game Is Super Mario World Besides Genesis Does What Nintendon't And Hey Im 10 And Im Waiting For A Sega Saturn

  • @gerryf964 thank god for the internet , providing me entertainment 24/7

  • @Leoooonard Yeah But Go With Saturn Also Nintendo Copied Sega With EWJ EWJ2 Streat Fighter

  • @gerryf964 Super Castlevania 4? Link to the Past? Super Metroid? Plus, most multiplatform snes-genesis games were superior on SNES. The only thing that killed the genesis was itself, with its age and the 32X and sega CD.

  • This is NOT the original controller, the "model 2" is the original. The crappy one was made for the american market (because of SEGA's retarded marketing back in the day) and quickly replaced with the original so people could actually play without importing controllers from Europe and Japan.

  • @bananarama666

Actually, we (Europeans) had this controller to start with too, it wasn't until the slew of fighting games for the Saturn in '96 that we got the Japanese-stylie controller.

  • I greatly prefer the Model 2 Saturn controllers, but the Model 1 isn't terrible.

  • Guess how well you played quake or duke nukem with a 2d based controller.

  • oh man, i nostalgia'd so hard, despite i never owned a saturn

    thanks for the videos

  • Why do people beg for thumbs up?.

  • @bazfanv2 $

  • @bazfanv2 thums up plz!

  • @bazfanv2 u are practically begging for thumbs up

  • @supergamer2401 Go on Thumb me up am on my knees. But honestly i really detest people who beg for thumbs up, especially when they say Thumps up.

  • @bazfanv2 and yet you have a top comment. ironic, isn't it?

  • @bazfanv2 Cuz then they become in top most liked videos and get more views = More money.

  • @C0reInside Hes talking about comments

  • I prefeer the model 2 controller by far, this model is weak and broken easily, especialy L and R butons :( .

Saturn model 2 controller is the best game controller of all time, especially for 2D games

  • @MASOFENT Yeah. Also, this model wasn't all that good for games that required you to do circular motions with the D-pad, like NiGHTS or many versus fighting games. I remember my thumb started hurting after a couple hours of playing that one. Never had that problem with model 2, AKA the original Japanese one.

  • stop riding segas dick

  • @mixxman08 Sega is awesome :D

  • @mixxman08 At least he isn't dancing to fucking Chris Brown.

  • @mixxman08 at least he doesn't hate Nintendo because of the consoles wars.

  • He he.... Cockfighting

  • You should review the 3D controller!

  • hmm... you haz not made an x360 review

  • @nhoodfan it's called "CLASSIC Game Room".Not "BULLSHIT NEW OVERLY FANCY TECHNOLOGIES WITH NTOHING BUT GOOD GRAPHICS Game Room".

  • Nice video.I am thinking of getting a Sega Saturn with two of the original controllers plus 4-6 games for about 42 dollars, the only thing is it is from craiglist and will need to shipped to me from Maine to Indiana,is it worth it buying it from craiglist or should I just tell the person I have changed my mind and not deal with craiglist, plus how would I send the person the money for it,also the 42 dollars includes shipping. Have you ever had any experience with craiglist.Thank you for your time.

  • @ATARI800XLfan Craiglist is not a safe site. So let it go. Best to buy on ebay or check out car boot sales in your area

  • this controller looks like a genesis controller that's been beefed up in some armor.

  • @TROPICTHUNDER250 IS GAY!

  • OH GOD NO! saturn wins

  • I've got this one, model 2 and the 3D controller which resembles the Dreamcast controller. I prefer this one.

  • review the 3d saturn controller

  • I wonder if he has a review of NIGHTS for the Saturn?

  • I like the D-Pad on this more than the Model 2, but the triggers are just unbearable, it's also a bit clunky. The model 2 is overall a better controller. However, if you're looking for a Saturn, go find the Super Pad 8, it's the best Saturn controller for just 2-D games, and is really cheap.

  • I got a saturn today. I like the controller but they could have made it flatter, makes it kind of hard to hold.

  • Try playing Sonic R with the fucker. It's just... wow.

  • Daytona is a fucking nightmare with it. C for the gas, 80ft draw distance, and a resolution that would make a nes laugh.

Everyone responsible for the saturn, apart from the case designer, should have been fired. The case looks good though.

  • i have 2 model 2s and 1 model 1

  • Model 1 is better, the d-pad is more comfortable.

  • lol the first saturn controller kinda reminds me of the xbox "duke" controller.

  • I really like the model one controller to bad i just this min broke it lol, just the plug if i can find my soldering iron an easy fix.

  • You clearly dont own a mega cd 32x or many Nintendo consoles it would take one ignorant fanboy to make a comment like that. And the 32x and mega cd are add ons not full consoles. Do you even own an Atari jaguar? the controllers arent even that bad, there much worse out there.

understand poor freaky?? by the way, with your voice you looks really stupid talking

  • That fight was rigged! I demand a rematch!

  • I liked the SNES control the best even to this day, also the PS but they just riped off the SNES

  • do an internet search on SNES CD Addon.

  • Dont worrie mate i know all about the whole SNES and PS thing.Like i said before Playstation ripped off about 50% of the SNES

  • and other 50% from n64 controller (rumble pak, analog stick)

  • Very true

  • @fpvshitsonhsv yeeeeaaaaaah right, remember that, thats what Nintendo get for blowing off Sony in the first place, thanks Nintendo without your rejection we woulden't have gameing as it is today.

  • @MrRhysReviews big deal that Nintendo blew them off,and to say that gaming wouldnt be were it is 2day thats ignorant.Ever herd of that thing your sitting on right now thats called a pc?

  • @fpvshitsonhsv 1st, WTF does PC have to do with all this, this is bettwen N and PS. 2nd, how am i ignorant, if PS2 wasn't around at the time GTA would not be 3D.

3rd, what good has the PC done for gameing, sure games are made on PC's but then there put on Consoles, duh, and anything that was made exclusive 2 PC is shit (Crysis, S.T.A.L.K.E.R), the Sims and Spore are pretty good though and don't tell me to play Crysis and S.T.A.L.K.E.R cause i own them both as well as Crysis Warhead.

  • @MrRhysReviews GTA was made on PC first mate so if there was no PS2 it still would have gone to PC

  • @fpvshitsonhsv Yes i know it was on PC first but without the power of the PS2 they would never have been this succesful as they looked at PS2 and said we can make it 3D and do this and this and this and so on.

And face it, playin' 3D GTA on a PC is HORRIBLE.

  • @MrRhysReviews Doesnt matter anyway mate i like all hardware wether its Nintendo,Sega,Atari,Sony and PC/Microsoft.I think they did there part in the video game industry and all brought something new with ideas 2day.There is so many things that each of them brought out that others never would have thought of

  • I didnt read the other shit you two were arguing about, but I could not agree more on this point. If each hardware manufactures tried to be completely original and innovative the industry would not have come so far in in such a short period of time.

  • Worst Sega controller ever, by far, and away...wow.

One of the reasons no one bought Saturn.

Saturn of course came out in Japan first, and they only have one model of controller there.

    The model 2.

So really, the US controller is the model 2.

    And a huge mistake.

  • Some of us think that this was one of the best controllers ever I miss having a 6 button layout so bad... I really don't care for the standard being 4 now on the front at least.

  • I don't know how anyone could think this is the best controller ever.

It clearly influenced the Fatty (Xbox original)

The Fatty seems like someone took the Saturn US controller, chewed up the Dpad, turned the 6 buttons side ways, added analog functionality, and added hog fat to back of the controller.

It's earily similar to the US Saturn controller if you look at them both side by side.

The Fatty feels extremely comfortable to be fair, but it just didn't work because they sideway the 6 buttons.

  • And I don't like the Duke Style Xbox Controller they feel a bit different in my hands but I do prefer smaller controllers ... well unless its an arcade stick of course.

Not the best controller ever I just really like it and I do prefer the model 2. Still I preferred them both over the PS1 controller

    Aberran

  • No one calls it the Duke. lol That'd be like giving it ultimate praise. Duke Nukem and all... It's just fat. That's why most people call it the Fatty. Yea, it really sucks that they made the 6 buttons stacked vertically, rather than horizontal. They made the controller based off of focus tests with hardcore gamers. Controllers for adults, with 6 face buttons came back the most popular. Leave it to MS to screw that up though. Just copy the Nights controller already... Saturn 3D pad nailed it
  • I know the original XBox Controller as Duke or as just that The Original XBox Controller. Never heard it called Fatty in my life till now.

    Aberran

  • I personally think that the Saturn 3D controller is the best one ever made with its analog stick thingie.

All three Saturn controllers are laid out professionally under SEGA superb styling.

The controller we have originally here is actually the model 1 and was exclusive here.

I'll admit the model 2 controller is better for gameplay in general, but on a stylistic stand point it is superior and superior still to any controller that could be drempt up today.

  • What?! It´s the best controller for 2D games, and it works very well for 3D games because the D pad is great!!!

  • That's what I said.

Model 2 Saturn controller owns, and Genesis 6 button controller owns.

Best controllers for 2D games and Street Fighter, period.

I use my Genesis 6 button to USB adapter for every game that doesn't need joysticks.

    Good times.

  • Ok, i didn´t try the model 2 joystick so i don´t know about it, but the model 1 is great for me. And the Genesis with 6 button is amazing too.

  • @Juanknes I agree with what you said about the 2D games, but I disagree about the 3D games. Having played Duke Nukem 3D and Quake on the Sega Saturn, I can safely say that the control was generally stiff and poor.

  • hey mark what team r u on im on sega what about you

  • I wish i still had my Saturn.

  • Sorry people, but this is the best controller ever made very very confortable

  • @ottosantiago How is it perfect? he did give some critisism :/

  • the d-pad was godawful... i still remember how much my thumb hurt from the edges of those circular grooves... especially for fighting games

  • Review on the Sega 3D controller that came with Nights Into Dreams would be kick ass

  • Yeah that controller was the most kick ass controller. The thumb stick on that controller was the best, better than the one for the 360 which i love too.

  • The build quality probably is superior in the model 2, however I think that from an aesthetic stand point the Model 1 is just a bit more stylish.

  • what's the music playing in the background?

  • This controller's growing on me. It works surprisingly well, since I thought the lack of analogue control would be a big problem, but games like Daytona have no trouble with a D-pad. Plus anything that's totally unworn-down after 14-15 years must be well put together. Kudos go to Sega for another sweet controller. Hell, I prefer this to the Dreamcast one, and that had a stick.

  • I still prefer the Saturn 3D control pad. I like my analog stick.

  • I'm looking into getting one of those, but they can still cost a fair chunk, so it might take a while.

  • I bought mine for 8 bucks on ebay, plus 4 bucks shipping.... There are a ton that sell for less than twenty if you just search "saturn 3d".

  • Yes...in hindsight I'm not sure where I got the number 20 from.

  • That's the primary Saturn controller that I use.

  • It's a good one if you have giant hands like I do...plus analog sticks>digital pads most of the time.

  • I hope to soon pick up a Sega Virtua Stick soon as well.

I think Shaqil O Neil would find that controller comperable.

  • The only problem I have with my stick is that it isn't heavy enough, and therefore likes to flop around. I actually took Mark's suggestion from the Madkatz 360 arcade controller and duct-taped a fairly large piece of pine to the bottom of my stick. It isn't perfect, but it works.

  • yeah he would (i hope)

  • someone is selling on ebay UK the sega saturn and sega mega drive wireless CONTROLLERs.

    :)

  • 3:18 LOL!

  • NO! oh god!!

  • wow the oddessy 2 controller actual controller! good job magnavox

  • how many consoles were released in 1995?

  • Sega Saturn, PlayStation, (both US releases, PS was also released in Europe in 1995) Sega 32X (European release)

  • I think it was the Playstation, Sega Saturn, and the 3DO that came out in 1995.

  • 3DO came out a fair bit before in 1993.

  • I love this gamepad lol

  • sega saturn is so underrated but the model 2 controller is better

  • dide he say the sega genesis had 6 buttons!!

  • No, he refered to the Genesis 6-button controller, a seperate controller from the standard one which was mainly useful for playing fighting games. He's even reviewed it.

  • I reckon Nintendo are much better designers when it comes to their controllers. They are always fun and simple to use.

Back than SEGA thought that adding more buttons was better but they have been proved wrong countless times.

Nintendo made a very easy to use controller where games would start out easy and they would get more diffucult by either game progress or Difficulty selection.

Bare in mind that is another standard Nintendo made aswell.

  • The nes controller felt better than the sega master system but genesis controller owned the snes one. Also, the Genesis and SMS controller had less buttons than their Nintendo counterparts. The Saturn controller was also a lot more useful than the N64 one. By making it M-shaped, you could never comfortably have access to all the buttons. I will say the Dreamcast one was big and ugly though. But guess what, the Gamecube looked and felt more deformed.

  • Many people loved the N64 controller, GCN and the Dreamcast controller they were simple and easy to use because they didn't require a lot of effort by pushing so many buttons.

These controller's have proper comfort grips and are color coded! Meaning that you won't get confused because you memorise the pattern easily.

Something that the saturn controller didn't do where Nintendo did.

  • Not saying SEGA were bad there games were great but hardware was never popular, Nintendo made gaming more user friendly and Sony just copies while Nintendo shaped and brought the industry to a norm.

  • Actually Sega were the most popular gaming hardware producer in Europe until the dawn of the Playstation, when their fan support mysteriously plummeted. And even in the US, the Genesis and SNES were about equal in popularity for a long time, but the SNES eventually won the gold medal.

  • All of CGR's controller reviews are obviously slanted towards praising controllers that are better for larger hands. The model 1 Saturn controller and 3-button Genesis controller are some of the WORST controllers I have ever used. By the same token, CGR seems to dislike the N64 and DC controllers which I find work REALLY well for me.

  • im 13 and i have small hands and i love the mega drive/genesis and i love the n64 and dc

  • The PS - Series controllers are actually a little small, and it is one of the most favorited controllers on the show, if you've seen their review. The N64 controller is a bit of a mess, in my opionion, with the M shape (can you stop promoting Mario, already?).

And how is a large handed controller bad? Most gamers are in their 20's and 30's, and they have large hands. Companies obivously recognize this, and they get praise for it.

  • I really like the D pad on the model one. It's probably my favourite D pad ever but I like the model 2 controller over all and use it most of the time.

  • i love my saturn play it all the time but im not a fan of the model 1 controller i like the model 2 better

  • Poor Sega :( I loved my Saturn.

  • saturn had an excellent pad. the sf4 pads are based on its very design. best classic controller by far.

  • The saturn controller model 1 looks like a 6-button genesis controller in a textured case

  • so nintendo were first to use along on the controller of the 4th generation consoles?

  • Yes. Sega and Sony released analogue controllers for the Saturn and PlayStation respectively but they both came out after the N64 was launched.

  • that`s is rare. i never use this model before. is it better than model 2?

  • i mhate u

  • No I don't Stupid little brother.

  • I really liked the model one controller (came with my saturn when I bought it on the week it launched in the US). There were no games on the PS that I enjoyed nearly as much as the few I played time and time again on Saturn.

  • You didn't mention the weird circular controller with an analog stick.

  • Yes, he needs to find one of those. Playing 3D games with only a D-pad? Unthinkable, if you ask me.

  • Ou poustokafre gamo to spiti sas lissasmena skilia.Oust!

  • i wish i had a sega saturn

  • How easily your opinion was changed..

Might I talk you into drinking some poisened koolaid or turning against your family?

  • Nice reference.

  • 0:52 Should the L and R buttons been right there? With a curved backside like the Genesis 6 button controlelr, I thing it would have worked... I dunno.

  • The model 1 is perfect for FPS games like quake, hexen, duke 3d. and the model 2 is perfect for fighting games like fighters megamix. I perfer getting both

  • i had a good ofer for a Segs saturn but im so sick of disc based games

  • Me too

  • Cartridges ftw.

  • But cartridges can't be pirated

  • That's a good thing.

  • yah they can be pirated but its harder to do than cds

  • im going to make a reveiw on my sega saturn tomorrow

  • i have 1 of both and a steering wheel

  • best controller ever made

  • The so-called model 2 controller is just the one that came with the original Japanese Saturn. They tried to redesign it for the Western release.
