I see Sparks as some sort of missing link or 'next-logical-step' between The Doors and T. Rex on one hand and Roxy Music and 10CC on the other. All in all, these bands had a major influence on a shitload of the punk, new wave, goth, glam and dance music that came out between 1975 and 1990.
but I don't see no Doors in it (unless the singer hair and a concentrated keyboardist are what u r thinking of, ...but musically they are on a different galaxy)
10cc?apart from a not in love track , who cares nowadays?
Summer 2009,Russia,Orekhovo-Zuevo Country, July, fishing in the sand-pit, beautiful girl-girl of my dream and song of Sparks-Equator, Kimono My House- my favourite album!!!
There was this party at Jay's parents' house. They we gone. We were... ripped, gone, and it was still sunny outside. It was summer. We listened to this song about fifty times. None of us could pick out a word. We thought it was in Japanese. No. Not a damned one of us looked at the album cover to get a clue.... "He quate her? What does that mean?" We were that far gone. It's a weird song though, but fun, fun, fun.
yeah man!! ha ha saw these guys on tv what a freak show. check out the rest of the album. when i saw them ,the singer was dressed in a suit with his pants tucked in to snoot boots. the organist looked like john cleese with an hitler moustache, contorting his face.
if sparks came out today, this would be HUGE among the "too cool for the room" crowd. the hipsters eat this kinda shit up

The song is called EQUATOR! Not so weird when you make sense of the word they are singing!

Got the vinyl 3 times. Favourite album of theirs. Think you have to be a certain type of person to like this. I love it.

I love this album. I bought it when it was released (1974?) and I still have it (on vinyl of course).
