I don't particularly care for how the elevator/viewing platform obstructs the Baroque grandeur of the church. I can find high resolution photos of the ceiling paintings if I want to see the details. The purpose of visiting Karlskirche is, to me, to be able to experience first hand the dramatic atmosphere that Fischer intended his contemporaries to experience.
I agree it would be a church before a tourist attraction. it looks awful. They also charge you 4 euros to enter. It is a place of worship! What are they thinking?

I'm not particularly religious myself but it's a shame that the terms of everything these day are dictated by the almighty dollar. This is what happens when you put money-grubbing proles in charge of high culture.
