i personally find it easier to strip the branch then cut from the under layer, it bends better and if you wrap it while its wet when it dries it gets even tighter.
good video, but tutorial wise, you might want to do a better explanaition on the reverse wrap, i understood it, but only because ive done it before, other wise great video :)
Nice work!! Try making one long straight cut down the branch, then peel off the rest by hand for long strips. Let us know what happens. Great job PEACE!!!
I might live farther north than you "sonoma county" and i cant find any willow trees. One thing that works pretty well though, are sword fern stems. By the way, what park of CA do you live in?
nice, i can't ever get a nice enough piece of bark to do that unfortuantely :(. one time though, i pulled a bunch of underbark from a fallen oak tree, tried to use it for a bow drill but my bow drill ripped it to shreds -.- so i used the shreds to make lanyards for my knives lol. milkweed and oak are the materials i've had the most luck with. my first ever was japanese knotweed.
Ya. The first series of tries are difficult but it is best to just push on and keep on trying. Keep your knife shallow and if it sticks slightly try a slight sawing motion with your blade.

Hey, I can't really see what you are doing to wrap it, because your hands are in the way.
