Hey, 4795623... If you don't have the money for Christmas presents, DON'T BUY CHRISTMAS PRESENTS.
Good grief. It isn't that hard!
I lived on $450/mo 10 years ago. The only thing I wasn't paying for was car insurance. It wasn't happy, but I could do it, and I managed to save up about $50/mo out of that.
The comments here sound like Americans are the only ones who have debt. Come on Canadians! We do the same thing!! Get of your high horses! And Canadians think Americans are arrogant! Ha!
My first wife was one of those people who couldn't tell the difference between a want and a need. If she wanted it she needed it.
Housing is a need, at least modest housing is a requirement; so a modest mortgage may be a legimate debt. Transportation ditto, but best pay cash for a 3-5 year old car, than a new one @ 20% interest, + 30% first year depreciation---a fool's wheels.
Always live well within your means and you'll never go over the edge. Build a cash reserve for small crises.
This is why the 'stimulus package' is seriously being considered. Stupid shits that extend themselves in a hope that someone else will take care of it.
It's funny while being painful. America is doing a horrible job a managing money...if only the wisdom of "Don't buy stuff you can't afford" was common.
Common sense. Very funny. The country's fecked coz too many stupid people borrowed money they couldn't pay back. I doubt this idea of economics will get anywhere but well done for posting this.
I wonder what our parents used to do back in the days when everything was in black and white.
....fucking americans, are all americans like that?

I could only stand this for so long. Like half way through it was too much. Anoying! And it's just repetition for 3 min.

sigh... christmas is coming up & my family isn't going to pay off the loans until next christmas...
but, this is basically telling everyone to be jewish/chinese.
4795623 3 years ago
no...it isn't telling people to be jewish/chinese...it is telling people to make financially responsible decisions.
the crazy thing is there are people that actually need to hear this teaching.

does that explain why jewish/chinese people are always miserable?

But what if I bought a bunch of stuff when I didn't have any money? Shouldn't the government be on the hook for my reckless and
totaly unsustainable debts?
primesteak 3 years ago
That seems to be the way it works... But, not for the small guy... US.

@tsama2000 Once in a while, it's all right to buy stuff you can't afford! But just don't run it in the ground!
