  • Amazing game. Amazing soundtrack. Amazing controls. Amazing atmosphere.

  • The most underplayed game in nintendo's catalog... And perhaps the most mature...

  • @plasmametroid Underplayed?

This game is one of the most popular and best game on one of the most popular and best consoles ever!

  • This has to be the best Metroid track ever, it was my favorite 15 years ago and still is today

  • NO DISLIKES FTW

  • @seanos321 Whoever would dislike this song should get hung up on a rope . This is the most mind blowing song ever!!!!

  • -thinks- yea.. ill just jump on that ledge!.. FUCKING SCREW ATTACK!

  • Sick song

  • Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

atmospheric. So adds to the feeling of the game. Where are thou these music today?

  • I miss this game so much, need to pick this up again. best Snes game ever.

  • I like to listen to this when i'm working on something ... so relaxing.

  • this kinda reminds me of Legacy of Kain Blood Omen xD

  • does this song remind anyone else of Lanayru Sand Sea from Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword?

  • Samus likes it down there...in lower brinstar

  • @marartb2012

Thx for ur answer! I'll will try to find these games:)

    I'm done rererererere-finishing Supermetroid

  • i think they recycled this song in metroid prime two, for torvus bog. This is the song for lower torvus bog.

  • @ipood555 I see no reason not to. It's a great song.

  • @marartb2012 Yep, a classic, a truly great game. It surpassed the original first 2 games, and none of the recent ones top it either. Im talking "Prime" series and that was good, with "Other M" bieng the weakest I think.

  • Guys; i've never played any of the new metroid game on game cube, gba or wii.

Does any of the new metroid is as good as this one? or close ?

  • @MrValmishra In my opinion the prime series for GC / Wii are pretty awesome. Fusion and zero mission are great (the latter being better from both). I definitely recommend the Metroid Prime series, specially the first one which is the one in my opinion that comes closer to compare to Super Metroid, however it's a different genre so it's really hard to compare.

  • @MrValmishra Late Reply but, I think the closest one to this is Metroid Prime 1 for the GameCube, Zero Mission is also pretty good, Fusion is a nice game, sadly too linear but still a great game.

Prime 2 can become quite repetitive but it's a nice one, Prime 3 is more action oriented but it has really nice sequences and such.

  • I remember getting this game when it first came out in 1994. I was only 12 at the time and I have the fondest memories playing this at my mum and dad's house (were I lived as a child obviously XD) and the one moment when I always remember is when I blew up that water tube...

When ever I visit my parent's house I will always remember sitting back playing this game! :D

  • sounds a rap beat for real,

  • When my mom heard this she thought it was native american music. and it does kind of sound like it, during that flute part.

  • I wish they still made music like this in games instead of generic orchestral bullshit.

  • 0 dislikes.

  • this song almost makes me believe if metroid were to go into the horror genre, it would do great. i mean think about it. there some creepy parts in more than one metroid game. i think it would actually be kinda cool.

  • @MidnitePhantom84 there is 2 terrifying metroid games and that is when you get chased by the sax in metroid fusion and metroid 2 for the game boy, you never know when those god damn metroids will pop out O_o

  • @MidnitePhantom84

I hear what you're saying and you're probably right, but we should all hope that it stays in the Metroid genre. ;)

  • This song will always remind me of the moment I discovered how to enter Maridia.

  • @modeserpent I saw it on the commercial

  • i grew up to this. hearing this again brings back so many awesome memories of wishing i could do what Samus does. thinking of it now, i bet Samus wished she did what i did instead of put herself though exploding planets and god-forsaken boss battles.

  • Best song in the game... certainly the most memorable. Hell this song IS super metroid for me, looking back on it.

  • HELL YEAH ! the piano part is so gallant haha

  • You can go a century and not experience a game this good.

  • Wow this song brings back some memories, It is moody, sad, somewhat depressing, but beautiful, elegant, and fascinating and inspiring at the same time.

In a way it can be a good tribute in to the anticipation of the mid 90s and what was to come on the world stage,

  • this is when music, gameplay, and story quality were more important to every one, when a simple looking game was able to make a huge impact in you.

  • I will always remember two things about red Brinstar, the water tube connecting Brinstar and Maridia, and the background to the area!

  • Awesome stuffs.

  • By far the best game ever created!

  • Super Metroid is my favorite game of all time, and a big part of it is the music. I have yet to play any game in which the music makes me feel a certain way. These feelings are the same, whether I was 5, or 12, or 19. The soundtrack to this game so skillfully translates feelings and description into music. Its mystical, mysterious, creepy, and lonely. It successfully translates the feeling of the solitary exploration of an alien world. No game can ever impact me the way this one does!

  • For some reason, I always thought of an orphanage when I heard this dark and sad music when I was 3-4. Still do. Weirds me out, but in a good way. <3 Super Metroid

  • when i was a kid i would never want to leave green brinstar to come here cause this music was scary sad and solitary all at once. its a huge jump from the upbeat green brinstar.

  • This was my favorite song on the game since before I was in kindergarten. It's been about two decades and that still hasn't changed.

  • I was hoping this song would come out when I was exploring the vaults in Fallout new vegas

  • Super Metroid's soundtrack was excellently composed in creating the feeling of being on an alien world.

  • The Best Heroine Game ^^

  • Epic!

  • With High Bass + High volume and a good Speaker, this Soundtrack would be at its best

  • just landed here by listening to the Submerged Temple theme of MP2. lol

    I love this theme.

  • Reminds me of walking in slow motion with Sunglasses.

  • I love the piano part! ^^

  • torvus bog....hydrodynamo station is a remix of this song from mp2

  • @draganoid01 It is the same :P

  • Submerged Temple? :o

  • I always thought the yellow thing up the top was some kind of moon, or sky.

    The stomach cannot be unseen.

  • 1:22 yeah

  • Games today focus so much on story and these long ass cinematic scenes. It's the days of SNES when gaming was less complicated and more hardcore.

  • it is sad they dont put on the original brinstar musicn in this game in 16 bit that theme would be awesome

  • But there is one thing that im a bit pissed off about is that in Metroid Prime 3 Corruption at the ending cutscene when you have 100% you see samus's ship fly off then you Dark Samus's Ship Fly After Her and Retro Studios has gave up with metroid when they made a slight hiccup cause now they showed up that ending they have no other choice but to make Metroid Prime 4 to end it properly but ofcourse making sure samus stays alive how about show they make a Fourth Prime its what we all want

  • @SuperRaveman it wasnt dark samus, she was obliterated on Phaaze, it was a hunter, Sylux, i think is how its spelled

  • I agree with all of you and i think nintendo have been through a lot but they were the first ones to come up with wireless plus the remote having a motion sensor and to me Nintendo are the most Greatest and Longest Lasting Computer Console And Game Company Ever and the will live on through us gamers to me as long as we and games are around Nintendo will Never Die

  • Brings back memories

  • dont know how but my heart feels funny with this song xD

  • I remember this! So Torvus' submerged temple theme cames from this tune!

  • background of the song sounds like jason music

  • this song should play when you are in search of space pirate activity

  • A true classic, the first time in my eyes that a 2D platform game created a cinematic feel. Super Metroid is a adventure, is eerie, very atmospheric, sometimes quite exhilarating and even scary. Super Metroid to me is the absolute best game on the Snes (yes better than mario, DK and all the other Nintendo family as much as I luv em lol), also I might as well go as far as to say the best video-game ever.

  • @RaikenXion IMO:

Donkey Kong Country was way overrated, but 2 and 3 are good.

Mario... I must say Yoshi's Island competes closely with this one.

Zelda was nice, but not this much.

Because man, Metroid is Metroid no matter what!

  • @Gunner193 Yes, I'll say Nintendo hav been quite unlucky over the years, what with having Rare bought off them, the loss of two great Nintendo games Perfect Dark and Goldeneye. And the N64 years were a struggle for Nintendo but at the same time they did produce some of their best games on that console. To me Nintendo best sophisticated game is the Metroid series. Im not bothered bout the wii's whole "motion gameplay" thing, I only like the old-skool Nintendo games. :)

  • @RaikenXion The Wii is good on my record - in fact, it was exactly the latest gen console I bought. Motion sensing? It's a new spice to gameplay, and I welcome it.

I don't get stuck on the past, even if I do like the older games. I enjoy Super Mario Galaxy, Donkey Kong Country Returns and the Metroid Prime games just as much as I do the old ones. There's no reason not to do that, IMO.

  • @Gunner193 The wii is quite pioneering, but I just feel its either a Idea they rushed, or didnt research enough. The reason y I say this is, the games that mostly support the wii's whole "motion gameplay" thing r just silly, fun party games, dance and things like that. Yes thats different and grabbing a whole new audience I agree. But u cant play if only they cud apply this Idea to more sophisticated games. By this I mean the only game I can think of Is that Goldeneye re-make.

  • @Gunner193 I wudnt say Im completely stuck in the past, its just if I find the newer stuff thats out now, isnt as good as the classics then Im gonna mostly stick to them. I hav a wii, and I mostly play MH3 on there, it doesnt support motion gamplay at all, and this is the thing Im talking about. They can work out how to make a game that requires minimal swinging action, like tennis and golf games.

  • @Gunner193 Yet Nintendo still cant work out how to apply this Idea to something like Monster Hunter where u swing a sword in different actions, and something like that wud b cool. At the same time I do still like the wii, I like wot they did with Other M, the motion gameplay for that works perfectly. And I like the Resi games on there also, I think the Idea of using the nun-chuk and remote to make a gun is genius.

  • Super Metroid, among the best games ever, and forever. =D

  • its from the 2nd metroid for game cube

  • @SmoshKing14 Super Metroid was on the Super Nintendo.. It even says it in the video ^

  • @TheMightyPandah That's true. But while this music was indeed originally from the SNES Super Metroid, it was also used in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, which is the 2nd Metroid game for GameCube.

  • its from the 2nd metroid for game cube

  • goose bump when i heard that, exactly the same with the water ruin in Castlevania IV, some composer of VG are realy good to play with the feeling that make sound good, even if the hardware was limited, used that song with a real shakuhachi for the flute sound can be awesome.

  • What lurks in these depths...?

  • i think ppl forget the simpler things in life :)

remember when games didn't have 2000 menus?

remember when controllers didn't have like 50 buttons?

rememember you didn't have to worry about online play?

those were the simpler joyful days!

  • @bubbaXzone: In all honesty, for a platformer that is GOOD, Super Metroid has pretty strange feeling controls.

They work perfectly once you get used to them though. A and X as the default jump and shoot? The l and r buttons to do the angled shooting.

I'm not saying it's crazy complex.. but it always takes me a second when I start playing it.

You're right though, for the most part.

  • @bubbaXzone

What are you talking about? I still play my SNES and all those bad-ass games just as much as my PS3. Go buy a SNES you cheap bastard, and get laid.

  • @azurescens420 Wow are you putting me down and dissing me? I have a SNES when did i say i never had one?, and what does being laid have anything to do with this? I never offended you so why are you treating me like this?

  • @bubbaXzone

    METROID OTHER M

  • @bubbaXzone I think you are a bit wrong, something that made metroid stand atop among all else was the infinity and complexity of samus' power suit abilitys and tools, the inclusion of a menu screen for map and suit's status the on screen tools, energy meter, minimap, and the use of all the 8 buttons plus the D-pad on the snes controller, metroid it's at the top not for being a simple game but for being a complex and awfully difficult battle and eliminate, explore and retrieve game

  • even if the use of all the buttons still don't make it complicated. What makes it complicated is trying to figure out all the different moves/actions and how to play the freaking game porperly. Metroid was just shoot, missles jump, ball,

  • @cort00 gd my message didn't work before and got cut off too lazy to check it over see if what ever i have left makes sense haha

  • @bubbaXzone oh god, the NES :D could just jump and shoot lol

  • I played and beat this game for the first time a year ago, and aside from the fact that it became one of my favorite games, fun as hell yadaa yadaa, there's something about this song that I cant quite put into words that left a bigger impact on me than any. It has a weird feeling of mystery, confusion and frustration in it. It felt like it oddly both mirrored the way I felt playing this part of the game and the current place I was in my life.

Anyway, definitely my favorite Metroid track.

  • @zzyzx0788 I know, very few songs are able to create the proper ambiance that makes it feel like exploring an alien world. Now go play super metroid redesign, it's the most remake I've ever played.

  • @zzyzx0788 I myself played this game for the first time a year ago. My friend introduced me to it and I was subsequently blown away. Now I own it too.

  • @zzyzx0788 Reading your comment gave me chills. Congratulations sir, you've earned a cookie.

  • great game. great soundtrack. still have it. still like it.

  • The music in this game is amazing.

  • o lawd something's gonna go down

  • This is still one of the best VG themes of all time!

  • I love this game it's just my FAVORITE game on the snes

  • @Foudavatar it doesn't really ever get too old does it? This is one of those few games you can keep playing b/c it IS great

  • This is what happened when I went to lower torvus bog in Metroid Prime 2

LOL YEAH IT'S THE LOWER BRINSTAR SONG FROM SUPER METROID *owned by preeds*

  • i remember sitting in Brinstar doing nothing for hours on end just to listen to the music. great times.

  • One of my favourite of the game, if not the first one :)

  • when i'm listening this music, i'm feeling very lonely and lost like if i was on an other world !

  • @DominarTyranT1 same, it's very desolate, and so much more atmospheric than any modern game I've ever played

  • @DominarTyranT1 dude you're so right! I kind of feel lonely too

  • @Fabiano1231 Listen to the Hydrodynamo from Metroid Prime II. It'll blow your mind more than this. XD

  • @DeltaPhi79 I will now =D

  • @Fabiano1231 Good idea. :P

  • @DeltaPhi79 OO i see, its the same song right?

  • @Fabiano1231 Pretty much. I think it makes you feel more alone than this one.... Mainly because you ARE. XD (In the game at least)

  • @DeltaPhi79 yes, you're right... when i was young i felt lonely when i listening to this song, because at that time i was in love for a girl... but she never liked me =[

  • @DeltaPhi79

I like this one more actually. The MP2 version is softer and more hypnotic, but this one pulls me directly into the game and out of everything else. MP2 has a softer, hypnotic version, but this one is powerful.

  • One of my Favorite songs in the game!

  • Super Metroid has the best Music!

  • this sorda sounds like tourvous bog in mp2 IT SOUNDS GREAT

  • @Metaridley17o thats because torvus bog was a remix of this song

  • @Metaridley17o it does

  • lover metroid this peice will always stay in my mind forever.

  • that music will always stay in my mind:)

  • I used to go to Lower Brinstar just to listen to this great music.

  • For shure, one of the best musics from the metroid series!

  • @pizzaiolokun this is up there with lower norfair

  • The best song 4ever, this and lower norfair

  • @frikidashit

    lower norfair FTW

  • @frikidashit what about upper brinstar?

  • @frikidashit best song ever.. so cool.. so deep.. so calm..

  • @frikidashit

    Troll much?

  • @frikidashit I agree entierly.

  • @frikidashit upper >3<

  • @DULL4H4N Lower Norfair (*-.*)

  • Greatest piece of video game music, ever.

  • this song is kind of creepy, in a good way that is ^^

  • Even though it's ambient I think this is the best song off the soundtrack. It stirs up emotions in me. Sexy emotions.
