I know why the register wont open. It's likely that the shopkeeper rang up an item (ie the drinks) in preparation for the sale and then when the robber said , "Give me the money" the shop keeper pressed the no sale button. The thing is, the no sale button only works when there are no items rung up. In the stress of the moment he didn't consider just entering $50.00 cash tendered then the register would open for change to be removed.
