sorry, fuel cells can't produce the horsepower needed for rally or other motorsport, automobile technology gets improved in motorsport. mainly higher end such as F1, GT Series, Le Mans, WRC, Rally etc. if fuel cell can produce the same amount of horsepower to fit into the above racing categories, fuel cell technology is gonna remain stagnant or remain slow in progress

The reason why Fuel Cell's have lost the media's attention is the fact that they aren't feasible. You cannot simply pull hydrogen out of the ground. You have to make it... and sadly most hydrogen is not derived from water... most is formed by cracking hydrocarbons (oil) apart. Of course this is all neglecting the issues regarding storage and the fact that burning it in a combustion engine like you are saying is the most inefficient way to use it possible.

There are Fuel Cells that run on Hydrogen or the

Hydrogen produced on-the-fly from Propane or LNG, then

there's crackpots or scam artists who try to convince people

that the Hydrogen in a quart of water mixed into the fuel

will double their fuel milage.

The power to dissociate the water? From the vehicle electrical

system, which gets its energy from the engine.

A lot of people still make astounding amount of money off of fossil fuels, I also heard that the reason why alternatives are not explored more is because we have fuel until 2030+ approx, so it's in the big oil companies interest to keep us addicted, my 2 cents.
