Thank you for posting this! Though there is not that "believe in" section in the junior version, this helped me practice for my school musical yesterday and Thrusaday! thank yuo!
So the original Broadway lyrics are (What I'd give to return to the life that I knew lately! But I know that I can't solve my problems going back!) I know I have the first original broadway script - the copy you picked up at some used store is a very horrible script change which MUSICALS do a lot. You have been schooled. =P
You are wrong (littlemissharkness)! The Lyrics is Homes a lie! Because Belles home life was a lie. I thought you would have paid attention to the story just a bit more closely then that. The lyric is then followed by the original lyrics What Ive give to return to the life that I knew lately Because all Belle had to do was get lost in books and forget people existed. followed by the original But I know that I cant solve my problems going back. Belles progression into reality.
There's two different versions. But if you actually look into the meaning of the song, it wold be "Home's alike." She's saying that her heart is far away and so is her home. Because home is where the heart is and her heart is far, her home is far. See what I'm saying? She wouldn't say home is a lie because she knows where her home is. Hope I helped. :)
look people, it is both i was in this mutipile time and one of my books says "home's a lie" and one says"homes alike" so quit fighting, just say which ever one you want to.
I really don't see the point in arguing over lyrics, but if you look at them, "home's a lie" really makes no sense since she's talking about home is where the heart is and that her heart's far away so "home's alike" makes more sense. Just sayin'.
Amazing job, but I do have a question. Is this the original version from the musical?? Because I don't remember the part: "Is this home? Is this what I must learn to believe in"-"My hearts far far away, homes alike"
Very, VERY good job, I'd just like to know. (kinda confizled @.@)
thank you:D that's a good question, this is the broadway version, i just checked, and i changed the lyrics to that; but the other lyrics were the ones on the original cast recording sung by susan egan. i don't know why there's two different versions though.
I don't know either. I was in the High school production that the district put on and we didn't use that verse at all, so I was just a little curious. Thank you ^_^

For all the singers out there who can't find the mp3 ---> listentoyoutube[dot]com.
There's a possibility that the mp3 will sound kinda funny on CD, but other than that it's perfect. :]

On the version I heard (vs. the lyrics here), it went like this:
"What I'd give to return to the life that I knew lately! But I know... that I can't...
change my problems going back... is this home?"
