shes seems so much happier and at ease when shes modeling and i think maybe its because theres not pressure like there is in gymnastics. she loves gymnastics, bu there is always pressure and she finally gets to do something fun for a change! luv ya nastia u r the best gymnast ever! and the prettiest! :)

Her dad did the opposite of forcing her into gymnastics. At first he didn't want Nastia to do gymnastics because he knew how hard it is, but he saw how much she wanted to do it. Her family is proud of whatever she does.

i agree I think her dad wouldn't have accepted if she got anything less than gold. I think he wouldn't have kicked her out but I think basically all she knows is "the best". like im a straight a student, and she mentions the gym in almost every other sentence. She probably didn't have a choice between gymnastics and something else as a kid.

She's really padded in the black tank top and also the shoot outfit with the white tank over a blue shirt. It doesn't look good, makes her upper body too big relative to her hips. They toned down the padding in some of the other outfits, much better.

The padding was almost certainly not her choice but rather the wardrobe person's.

I wouldn't judge her personality based on this alone because it sounds scripted by her agents or the jeans company people.

Ok, no offense to Nastia: I thin she is a beautiful, wonderful gymnast, but she seems just so stuck up and self absorbed. Every interview with Nastia seems to come out with her being IMEIMEIMEIME all the time. I love her as a gymnast, but it seems like she is just so stuck up! "I was an all-A student", "I'm in the gym 7 hours a day", "I made the national team at age 12", "I made the olymoic team yesterday", you know...that sort of thing. What do you guys think?

I agree with everything you said. I think she's spoiled by her parents - there's a picture of her getting a silver BMW convertible for her bday - and that's part of it. She's a great gymnast but she does seem really snobby, stuck-up, and spoiled.

Also I guess that's what happens when you're constantly winning gold medals and being told how gorgeous and amazing and talented you are. There's an interview of her from 4 years ago somewhere on here, and she was so much sweeter and more innocent.

I agree 100%. To be a ture role model, you can't be a stuck-up. Everything she talks about always seems to come down to "I am SO amazing". She could be talking about hitting a red light and say "That reminds me of when I was having trouble learning a triple layout. Which of course I learned when I was 10" Sometimes you just want to scream "You're not that great! You're not as important as you think you are!" "Get over yourself and look at a real world issue!"

I believe in order to be a REALLY good role model, you need to have had more negative impacts and setbacks in your life than positive impacts/setbacks (if positive setbacks exist...). Why? It means you can empathise with people more...relate to them better. And although you might not ever meet the people who aspire to be like you - if you communicate that through what you say, act and look like, it's as good as being right in front of the person. Nastia doesn't have that.

No I'm not saying she has the right to be perfect,I'm saying she is,in a way. I mean she's an olympic gold medal winning gymnast, she has never done anything against the law, she's rich, famous,basically everyone loves her, she may be a little stuck up but ,I'm asking you this, wouldn't you be??? But some are asking about something completely different and she will always seem to direct the interview off to a different subject: HERSELF. For example, if you look at the channel 'gymnast', you will see some interviews where they will be asking about something like the USA gymnastics leotards and she will talk for like an hour about it (while connecting it to herself) and they will cut her off. I just hope for her sake that she learns that she isn't the center of the world.

just to say, if you win a gold medal at the olympics, its not like in a few years you'll have forgotten about it and not be a gymnast anymore? physically she wouldn't be but in her head and everyone elses, she will be! look at all the famous gymnasts from 20/30 years ago, people still refer to them as a gymnast.

besides nastia will always stay with the sport, probably coaching or commentating etc.

and she is a terrible terrible model. she's beautiful and everything, but the only poses she knows are hands on my hips, or one hand on my hip with a bent knee. i mean, what is this, a five-year-old's fashion show? she has no other facial expression than that blinding smile, everything about her is so fake. and i hated that when she was modelling, she kept doing gymnastics moves. ugh.

If there's one thing I have an immense love/hate relationship with, it's the amazing penmanship with some people.

I mean, I just don't get it. How on earth do some people (like Miss Liukin here) manage to have such amazing signatures dammit! It frustrates the absolute HELL out of me, especially when my own signature is utter crap and my handwriting is even worse.

I even hold pens incorrectly (middle finger on barrel). But I just don't get how people develop good writing skills. Wish I had.

An exceptionally talented gymnast and a good kid. It's so nice to see a teenager with a good head on her shoulders. You can tell she was raised well. And she did this photoshoot in between Olympic Trials and the Olympics, so her time management skills are also top notch. :)
