There is no warm up prior to the workout. Warm ups, or lack of them seem to be a big point of contention among some of the people who have commented on my workout videos. I don't do them because I don't need to do them. I don't attempt to lift weights I am not capable of lifting. All the injuries I have observed in a gym setting result from a trainee trying to lift weights he/she is not capable of. And all were warmed up at the time.
@PureHIT2008 Its funny how Mentzer says dont warm up then I see a video of him warming up and stretching, Then its low reps low sets, I saw him doing 8-10 multiple sets. HIT is really just powerlifting. It will get you strong thats it.
Breath-holding & grunting might -seem- to help at the end of sets, but they actually cause a quick "shut-off" when the hold/grunt is over. When you -do- breath, you do it well; keep that up to the very end & your muscular tension will slowly, steadily lower to zero instead of dropping / shutting off. This applies even if you're stuck in bottom position with no movement. It's the effort that inroads your last crucial bit of strength.
Could just be me, but I don't hear your breathing being quickly and consecutive. Should you know want to breathe quickly during the whole set, and eliminate holding your breath? Maybe my speakers just suck and your doing that haha
That's not Arthur Jones equipment. That's "Hammer" by his (disinherited) son Gary. The leverage principle that the "Hammer" line is based on was rejected by Arthur.
I really enjoyed this. The workout may be 5 to 7 minutes, but as you can see, the gym is virtually empty, so you have the freedom to go from station to station with no waiting. Finding the time of day or night where's it's that empty could be a challenge.
Plus since a lot of those machines are plate loaded, those have to be both loaded ahead of time, then unloaded at the end of the workout.
Typical workout for me is 45 - 50 minutes. Half of that is setting up for the next exercise.
@tacitus1975 Lol, a joke? No, it's a fact. You don't know that machines are easier than free weights? You don't have to use strength stabilizing the weight in machines like you do with free weights, so doing the same weight on a machine is going to be easier than doing it with free weights. I'm surprised I had to explain this to you.
The reason bodybuilders get so big doing high volume training is because they are taking steroids which dramatically increase your recovery time. For the average person, it takes on average a week for the nervous system to fully recover and to regain all of your strength. I workout once a week and I am the most jacked person at my gym, even with a crappy diet and drinking/smoking.
The reason he's doing full body is because the entire workout is so short that it would make sense to just train everything at once. Having one extremely high intensity workout a week is effective, especially for hardgainers because you have plenty of time during the week to eat and gain mass. If you are working out every day or 3-4 days a week, you will be burning way too many calories to be adding muscle.
He's not Benching 380 lbs. or rowing 375 lbs. Anyoe who knows that increasing the length of a lever arm allows you to lift more. Look at those machines. The lenght of the lever arm is quite long.allowing him to lift that weight. But, I seriously doubt that he could actually bench press a barbell or row a barbell with that amount of weight.
@MrMartinzztop Thanks for the insight, Captain Obvious. You DOUBT that he could bb bench or bb row that weight? Of course he can't, he's barely doing it on machines. Everyone knows machines are easier.
that looked intense. what i saw in this video is all you do in one week? or is there more. i am reading a book now on HIT and i thought the workouts were like 20 minutes or so
Good stuff as usual. I'm still going well on my FB A/B routine with the 'rush factor. I take it the opening of James's place went well on Saturday? It looks fantasic.
Hi, I got fed up with loading the weights on the Hammer,so I now use a pre-exhaust so I can use the Nitro. It also has the benefit of being in closer proximity to the rest of the equipment I am using, therefore cutting down on rest between sets.

Another Brutal workout Mark .
If only those looking in could feel ( or know ) how intense such training is , especially when using the `rush factor`. Great work.
Best wishes , T.
