Theres also states wanting to pass a law that says you have to have a permit to own one. they are illegal to posses alive it caught from a public water way. you can catch then and possess the carcass though as long as they are youthanized. there a cool fish though i disagree on feeding them a game fish species though. but still a cool video

there are in fact states in which they are legal. the only fish that is illegal nationwide is any asian arowana because it is a cites listed fish. unless you have a locallybred fish in which they will install a microchip and serial number to prove that it came from a registered breeder

I'm sure there are hundreds of other illegal fish, but as far as what aquarists keep, the Asian arowanas are the only ones. I would imagine that temperate zones would have more allowable tropical fish than warmer reigons. If it can't live in that ecosystem than it's not an issue.

i've seen paroon sharks eat snakeheads. there is a video on youtube of a guy's paroon shark that ate his small snakehead. keep in mind that paroon sharks grow to like 5 feet long if given enough space, and snake heads are the perfect size to fit into their mouth, so they're fair game. i've seen 3+ ft long red tail catfish too, and those would swallow up those snakeheads too. there are a lot of shark-size catfishes out there. snakeheads are just good at biting small things in half.
