You sound like someone who takes your relationship with God seriously so I feel compelled to address this.
Jesus never taught to disregard the law--he solidified the law by saying that not only should a man not commit adultery, but just wanting to commit adultery is a sin. Not only should you not kill, but just hating another person is a sin.
Jesus did not teach us to abandon the law, but to not think ourselves better than others because of how we keep the law...So we killed him.
I'm afraid these good points don't truly describe the spirit of Christianity. God nailed our sins to the cross, not the law. We need the law so we can understand when we are failing God. For we ALL fail when it comes to the perfect will of God. It is the cross that makes it possible for us to fail and still be forgiven.
A Christian who truly loves God must not only try to keep the spirit of the law, but in addition to that must show love and forgiveness and pity to those who do not.
I need to clarify that last post because what I said can easily be misunderstood. I want to point out that there is a difference between keeping the spirit of the law and "keeping the law" as I believe you mean it.
I belive that the law was not abandoned or nailed to the cross, but that legalism was. The law could never save you, it can only condemn you by pointing out your failures. As such, we should use the law as our guide to be the people God wants us to be but not llive in fear of it.
According to scripture, we should fear the consequences of not obeying the Laws, Commandments, Statutes, Precepts and Judgements. for God has the power to cast into Hell.
We must be in agreeance with every Law, Command and Judgement, for in them is justification for all our daily actions.
Of course the Laws point out what we have done wrong, so we can confess those wrongs (sins) and repent and go and sin no more.
I believe that fearing the consequences of angering God and living in fear of the Law are two independent ideas. Scripture talks a lot about fear and I do not believe that God wants us to live in fear.
I agree that we must achieve total compliance to the Law if we wish to be justified by the Law. I disagree with the idea that this is a possible notion.
With out the Laws and Judgements of God, it it is written, " it is impossible to please God."

I'm afraid these good points don't truly describe the spirit of Christianity. God nailed our sins to the cross, not the law. We need the law so we can understand when we are failing God. For we ALL fail when it comes to the perfect will of God. It is the cross that makes it possible for us to fail and still be forgiven.
A Christian who truly loves God must not only try to keep the spirit of the law, but in addition to that must show love and forgiveness and pity to those who do not.

I need to clarify that last post because what I said can easily be misunderstood. I want to point out that there is a difference between keeping the spirit of the law and "keeping the law" as I believe you mean it.
I belive that the law was not abandoned or nailed to the cross, but that legalism was. The law could never save you, it can only condemn you by pointing out your failures. As such, we should use the law as our guide to be the people God wants us to be but not llive in fear of it.

For all you squeaky clean people throwing rocks, lets see you reach out to her audience. Go to vegas and represent Jesus in that environment.... It is her platform and lord bless her and protect her coz I know I can not.
