On my NES in level 19 i barely can move pieces to the left or right... When I'm in 18 its all peaches and cream, but when I go to 19 the blocks hardly can be manipulated and fall DF-DF-DF-DF-DF-DF-DF at 300BPM. Even starting at 19 gives me so little time to make just one or two rows and thats it...
I'm going to try tetris on a NES emulator soon. I rediscovered the fun of the B mote recently: I bought a GBA on holiday In York, with some nice games. FUN!
1. I know it's possible (barely), but on the left and right walls only by holding the d-pad. If you can mash that fast, then you may qualify as superhuman.
2. You ought to be able to match Jonas by maxing out the score starting at level 19. I saw your GB max out. And if you can play this well at 19 then there's no doubt about it.
I play with the NES controller oriented the same way as I do with the gameboy in one of my other videos (Level 9 Heart Height 5, watch?v=l0Z0l_R3deM&e). That way, I can mash the D-pad with my index and middle fingers, and move the blocks side-to-side much faster than is usually possible.
I really like that note you wrote: 'My arms are tired....'. Makes me laugh given the context. :-D

Levels 19-28 are all the same speed and are the fastest levels humanly possible on the NES.

It is definitely legit. I use a much simpler version of the technique to jerk a piece to the side at the last second using the same principle.
