You know, I always wondered why people refer to this event as the 'Falling Person" event. I always considered it to be a UFO hovering in mid-air. The way it is moving looks eerily similar to footage that is taken of supposed UFOs, moving erratically and almost always in the desert. And you do have to go past fences with various warning signs to see it. This can also explain why you see many of the figures in the Mars area.
Maybe Madotsuki likes to watch late-night documentaries about Roswell.
Since Madotsuki commits suicide using stairs to help herself, and since it didn't happen yet at this point of the game, I think this is the way she imagines it can happen. She looks small compared to the stairs because she feels meaningless to the world (IMO), and those big stairs represent that world which is too big and dangerous for her, when she's small and weak.
Yeah, I don't know what "Fabio" the person who submitted that idea at "Madotsuki's Closet" was thinking. People like him should do a little more research before submitting such a "theory" to an important fan-site for Yume Nikki outside of Japan.
The flying character [that you see on the long staircase] is Reimu Harukei from the Touhou game series, spinning around in air. In the game Touhou Perfect Cherry Blossom, the 5th stage have a big staircase in the background... The 6th and last stage, the boss, Yuyuko Saigyouji, wears a triangle kerchief. So this area of the game is a little homage to Touhou series
@whybanme I absolutely agree. Notice how she is on stairs which is what she used to commit suicide with. And it's as if she can see herself falling as she goes up the stairs.
Me and my friend were both playing this and we both saw it. I couldn't stop laughing it looked so funny to me, I thought it was one of those flying heads that you can find in the white desert. I really don't know though

Also, Yuyuko's shoots ressembles butterflies and in Y.N. there's a butterfly flying around near the house where you see the white flowers inside.
First, I think that's a little far-fetched to relate this 5x5-dot figure to Reimu. Secondly, triangle kerchief is a standard equipment of any typical ghost in Japanese folklore, and that's exactly why Yuyuko wears one. Plus, Perfect Cherry Blossom was released less than a year before Yume Nikki, and it doesn't seem like Kikiyama would pay homage to such a new game. By the way, you spelled Reimu Hakurei wrong.

How all of you think it's Reimu is just beyond me. All I see is a bunch of pixels; not a shrine maiden.

Well the falling person doesn't seem to be going anywhere. Maybe he's just spinning right-round?

It's foreshadowing Madotsuki's fall to her death as she tumbles through the air to the hard cement ground.
whybanme 2 years ago
Well, that's one way to think of it, but If that's so, then why you would see multiple "Falling peoples" in the Mars area at the same time.

That is, indeed, very silly. Ever heard of Japanese Mythology? Yeah, triangle kerchiefs.

You finally recorded it, huh? Oh slow me!
Gosh, I never noticed, but it sort of does look like a falling person,
Except that it floats around in the same spot till you leave. I wonder how many you can see...~ //plays again :D

I guess it does look like a falling person. I saw this the other day but didn't pay much attention to it for some reason D:

This can also happen in the Mars location, if I'm not mistaken. Keep returning to the tiny hole.
Theeccentriccat 2 years ago
Well I don't think those are falling people, more like spaceships
Oh and you can attract about six of em if you use the cat ability, I havent tried it at this location but I will soon ^^
