  • ποιά είναι η ταχύτητα περίπου αυτού του είδους ξέρει κανειίς;

  • @YPOTOMHDEN

    Δεν έχει γίνει σχετική μέτρηση ποτέ γι'αυτό το φίδι, αλλά μην φαντάζεσαι πως πιάνει εξωπραγματικές ταχύτητες.

  • I am a long time proponent of herpetoconservation. I agree. But not ALL species are porected or at least not uniformally but rather according the local level of endangerment. Natrix fir example is not covered at all. Capture by hobyist is not the problem - habitat destruction and trade is. BTW I was the one who caught the first C. rubriceps in Bulgaria as a 13 y/o boy (before the publication of Bartoshik/Buresh - they used my data as well as theirs).

  • Nice to have a conservationist writing comments on this video ColuberGolem.

    You can go to my website (see link at video info) and see that all reptiles and amphibians in Greece are protected by at least one law. And beyond that, all european reptiles are protected at least by Bern Convention at Appendix III.

    ColuberGolem, do you also work with reptile photography? Do you have any online album with bulgarian speciesto see?

  • Very impressive site. Browsed it with a great deal of pleasure. If I am right the Bern Convention leaves the details of the execution of its principles to handled locally by each signatory country. Example: I covers V. ammodytes in general, but Bulgarian authorities have the discretion of issuing permits for snake farms. Again, I don't think that individual hobbyists are problem. Big time smuggling gangs are and habitat alteration is by far the worst.

  • ilias000, every capture is harmful to any animal even just because of the stress of the event, therefore a capture involving a lot of "drama" must be avoided. The best way of catching C. najadum is by gently pressing it's coiled body to the substrate if possible and even let the animal bite you. Unlike C. juguraris, najadum doesn't hold and chew during a bite, at least not for long. Back when I was capturing najadum it wasn't protected. At least not in Bulgaria. Ajadum never hisses either.

  • I've been catching C. najadum since 1974. They are EXTREMELY difficult to catch in a "fair" encounter. This is a snake which makes sudden turns on a dime and literally "flies" among vegetation. Best bet is to corner it or to ambush it. A natural vulnerability of the species is its "confidence" - being fast it tends not to run too far if not particularly scared. Good luck in catching it. Even in areas where it is abundant you may not see one for weeks at time.

  • OMFG.. i know alot about snakes... and im looking forward to look for this snake in the holiday.. but OMG i didnt knew it was THAT fast!! Very nive upload!!:D:D an upload that can teach people well about snakes speed :D 5/5
