  • Doctor Octopus? Alive????

  • English is a simple language made difficult, it has too many useless rules and exceptions. Just look at plural rules, we have S, ES, II, EN, ICE, O, X, I, A and some nouns we don't even bother to add anything to their plural forms, for example, sheep, bison, shrimp and many more. Like I said before it s a tool not an obstacle course it should be simple and straight forward.

  • sorry that should have read american = color..lol

  • i cant go into every detail or we would be here forever but, for example, standard spellings agreed by lexicographers and placed into english dictionaries follow standardised rules and conventions, english = colour american = colour, im not saying that english can only be spoken by english people..but when we say 'standard' english then i would agree that 'all' he conventions and rules should be followed, also language carries elements of culture wich is a whole other story.

  • an american cannot teach standard english. they can teach an american version of english...standard english is in the style of recieved pronounciation, ive yet to hear an american with that accent..so do you mean speak standard english..or just plain old whatever english..cause thats 2 different things

  • What is Standard English? Does it adhere to its own rules and conditions?

  • let's say that in the islands they have hundreds of dialects, and i'm sure they do ;) and one of them is called Received (formally accepted) Pronunciation - spoken in the south, at least in theory, it was chosen to be the official dialect BUT all other dialects are equal to each other as they evolved paralelly but in different parts of the country and were influenced to a greater or lesser extent by other languages (French or Swedish - or Scandinavian)

  • the so called RP has its own grammar (slightly different to other dialects) and pronunciation (totally different)Guys on BBC speak that way..

  • I don't have any problem with how people annunciate English but I do with English grammar and spelling. English grammar is ambiguous and sometime useless. To me, if rules and conditions are confusing to the point that no one knows how they work, they are not important and should be eliminated. English is a communication tool not an obstacle course.

  • omg its peter griffin

  • amina koyim bu turkce konussa anlamam zaten..

  • i thougt he could help me to speak enlgish better

    but than... xD

    it's useless u.u

  • If you want to speak English better, just speak it the way you want because English doesn't have any concrete rules they just have exceptions, in fact, it has so much exceptions that no English speakers know when to use what.

  • the best place to learn good English is.............on the bed
