for me, overkill is the real creator of thrash metal. they started out as early as 1981, before metallica, anthrax etc ever started. It's just that they never started producing albums until 85. Raise the dead was recorded as early as 1981, which is probably the earliest thrash songs ever recorded. Metal church and motorhead did release a couple of songs this fast but ain;t really thrash.

@nuppe10 They had 2-3 okay albums. Nothing special, just listenable. Whoop-di-do. They aren't that good. Glamfag band turned heavy metal heros by poseurs despite being the leading cause of shitty, shitty bands like Lamb of God or ... Well pretty much any groove metal band.
