  • Enjoyed watching all the videos. Got excited with the Radius turner too, I'm seeing another project in the near future. think I saw on the madmodder site. If you are looking for LED bulbs you could try futurelec site US & UK locations for the components.

  • @ChadA4MG Good stuff, Glad you liked them :-)

The radius turner is on madmodder (plans on Steve Bedairs site. I slightly modded them) and also the full build of a mini version of it for the 7x** machines.

LED's I mostly source from China..... Cheap as you can get and work well. Still got 100's left :-)

But I will find and peruse the site all the same..... Never know what else you might find? :-)

  • That is great! I don't suppose the LED lights themselves come in any commercially available kits do they?

  • @Bear5177 Never been asked that one before. I only make them as occasional gifts. As you can see from the videos I make them from scratch.

If you have access to a lathe it's not too hard to make one. All the instructions are on my friends site. The link to which is in the descriptions box.

They would cost far too much to make to sell...It's just too expensive! I say about a tenner ($15) but if you paid yourself a good wage it'd be nearer £20 ($30)

    Sorry.

Happy you liked the video :-)

  • Or just buy one for $3 at harbor freight ... lol Just kidding ... this is awesome work my friend! Thanks for the videos!

  • @conspiracy777 Yep! Or over here try the pound shop! I have hundreds of little torches and many larger ones too... I'm a gadget geek :-)

I have been asked why I do not sell them... Answer, simple, they would cost about a tenner($15) each !

They were and still are for bespoke personal gifts :-)

Happy you like them though :-) Always happy to have the video work appreciated too. They take much longer to create than the torches themselves!

  • Super work. Precision ... Beautiful. Thanks for sharing and taking the time to video record and upload.

Question : with the torch cap having to be slightly un-screwed to keep the LED off, don't you lose the body occasionally by being slowly and gradually full un-screwed ?

  • @Metalloys Hi, Thank you. I enjoyed the making and even the editing of the videos :)

Answer: the larger O ring was added the to prototype design when it was found to unscrew easily when in the off position (a half turn counter closkwise) The O ring is a tight fit into the top of the body (see recess 7:14 ) this keeps them together through most daily usage. Only one friend has lost the body to a torch in the last 2 years.

Thank you again for the positive comments :-)

    Ralph.

  • fantastic I ´d like to paly with lathe and tools

  • @facatube Thank you. Nice to know you liked the work :-)

I know what you mean.... I just took the time to save up and buy some machines a few years ago, cause I really wanted to make stuff.

Great use of spare time, just be very careful when you get some machines.... They are still a quite dangerous even in small model formats.

    Play safe! :-)

  • brilliant...great editing with amazing music( esp. vid 1).. a mini EDC torch made out of my favourite material brass... you are lucky to have the skills and equipment to make such beauties...well done A+

  • @faranglaw Thank you and I'm very happy you like the idea and watched the videos :-)

EDC... Had to look that one up... Every day carry. Yup, have one on each of my sets of keys :)

I'm intrigued by your alcohol burning mini capsule stoves. I'm sure I can make one or two... I know some people who would appreciate them.

Skills, You clearly have some of your own.... I have similar, I just got the machines to help me out :)

Thanks again for the comments, have fun. Play safe!

    Ralph.

  • Thanks for sharing!!!

    It is CNC lathe??

  • Hi, no problem.... Glad people are interested :)

The lathe and all my tooling are manual.

I know it might look like they are being made on an automated machine but that's just turning both hand wheels at the same time.

The camera is mounted to the saddle too.... Gives a weird effect when moving too..... Kinda fun though :)

See my ball turning video for the odd camera movement effect too.

  • Great series, thanks for uploading.

I'de love to buy a lathe at some point but can't afford it at the moment...

    Pity.

Anyways, love the simplicity of the design, please post more :)

  • Hi,

Thank you, glad you like 'em :-)

Lathes & mill's do cost a fair price even in their hobby forms.

If you price a machine you should probably cost about the same amount again for the tooling required! (IMHO)

Design, just my version of an age old design...It's hard to craft a more reliable switch!

More... Life just keeps getting in the way of my hobby! :) I only got this done due to Xmas!

I've got a few projects to get finished this year.. You'll see them here eventually!

  • Excellent, can't wait to see more!
